More about me

I'm a 50'ish bookworm, empty nester and Catholic.  Barnes & Noble with the Starbuck's Cafe is my favorite shop and I crave their light mocha mint frap with chocolate whip cream and mint sprinkles on top.

I'm always stumped when people ask what I do?  If you mean how I define myself, then I am an expert gardener, an artist wanna-a-bee and a little bit of a pack rat and impluse buyer :>  If you want to know what I do to earn money to pay for who I am, then I am a senior administrative manager at a technology services corporation in charge of credit & collections.   I am ambivalent about my career but it pays the bills.

Hubby is a vintage mechanical watch collector and the resident expert on just about everything that I don't know ( or think I don't know as I frequently have menopausal memory lapses these days) and a junior high school science teacher.  He is a cancer survivor.

We were married in a Southern Baptist Church by a Church of Christ minister; I was a practicing Methodist and hubby was no adherent to any particular faith at the time.  My family is from a long line of Pentecosts and his family a mixture of Shinto and Roman Catholics.  We were both drawn to the Roman Catholic Church. We've been married 30 years and part of our marriage longevity, I believe, is directly attributable to our shared Catholic faith.  However, I can't emphasize enough how much I think organized religion contributed to the ills in the world.  Practice your Faith for yourself - leave me to practice mine, please.

Hubby and I both enjoy thrift store shopping, yard sales, e-baying and our little min-pin, Bro.  I create mosaics and am always trying new crafts.  Anything we can't sell on e-Bay, we donate to a local charity shop.  Both Daughter # 1 and Daughter # 2 have flown the nest - one to the West Coast and one to the East Coast so we're cleaning out the house as well and offering their stuff up for auction with their consent.

There are many blessings I have each and every day. I try to live simply, I practice Yoga to keep fit, and praise Jesus Christ, My Lord and My God, in some way each day and to lighten my footprint on the earth for future generations.
