More about me

I'm a 48 year old woman who has been raising three kids on her own for the past 17 years. They are mostly grown now, ages 23, 22, and 20, with the oldest being done with college, and the youngest one in her last year of college.

My oldest son and I tend the family farm, which has been in our family since 1880. Mostly it is pastured land, and the majority of the acreage is leased out to a nearby cattle farm; But on the portion not leased, we still run goats and chickens and have a large garden and the beginnings of a new orchard (we used to have one here when I was growing up, but it was wiped out by a storm). We plan to also get sheep and cattle and begin a pasture-rotation policy, kinda like the famous PolyFace Farms.

I have an outside job working technical support (computers) for a bank; but prior to that I spent over 15 years working for newspapers as a reporter.

I love: old pickup trucks; dogs; the smell of rain and dirt; the smell of newly cut hay; hard work; and God.
