[Robert Browning] A Woman’s Last Word-- Let's contend no more, Love, Strive nor weep: All be as before, Love, ---Only sleep! What so wild as words are? I and thou In debate, as birds are, Hawk on bough! See the creature stalking While we speak! Hush and hide the talking, Cheek on cheek! What so false as truth is, False to thee? Where the serpent's tooth is Shun the tree— Where the apple reddens Never pry--- Lest we lose our Edens, Eve and I. Be a god and hold me With a charm! Be a man and fold me With thine arm! Teach me, only teach, Love As I ought I will speak thy speech, Love, Think thy thought— Meet, if thou require it, Both demands, Laying flesh and spirit In thy hands. That shall be to-morrow Not to-night: I must bury sorrow Out of sight: --Must a little weep, Love, (Foolish me!) And so fall asleep, Love, Loved by thee. Image Hosting by Picoodle.com

As the mist rolls and folds to conceal the mountains of old with torch in hand and hooded cape I start my climb of a Irish wish....... \When midnight calls I surrender to it's cry and once again I start to crawl..... With bated breathe and the sound of ye old Irish song singing within my heart stronger now is this draw... With bloodied knees and hands alike I keep my pace to stop now I would lose my soul so with the strenght of wiccan ancestors I steady my mind and hope not to slip and fall.. Now it is there within my sight as I stand I see that I have reached my mountain high through the fog and mist stands what I wish as he turns with the light of angels breathe \...... With hand held out the brightness of heavens stars shine within his eyes..... So I have found myself within my Irish wish high on this mountain of old - I will always heed this call for it's just my heart's song and with this I know it is my all.... Nor are mine ears with thy tongue’s tune delighted; Nor tender feeling, to base touches prone, Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited To any sensual feast with thee alone: But my five wits nor my five senses can Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee, Who leaves unsway’d the likeness of a man, Thy proud heart’s slave and vassal wretch to be: Only my plague thus far I count my gain, That she that makes me sin awards me pain. Matthew Arnold-- [Longing] Come to me in my dreams, and then By day I shall be well again! For then the night will more than pay The hopeless longing of the day. Come, as thou cam'st a thousand times, A messenger from radiant climes, And smile on thy new world, and be As kind to others as to me! Or, as thou never cam'st in sooth, Come now, and let me dream it truth; And part my hair, and kiss my brow, And say: My love! why sufferest thou? Come to me in my dreams, and then By day I shall be well again! For then the night will more than pay The hopeless longing of the day.

[John Donne] The Bait-- Come live with me and be my love, And we will some new pleasures prove, Of golden sands and crystal brooks, With silken lines and silver hooks. There will the river whispering run, Warmed by thine eyes more than the sun. And there the enamored fish will stay, Begging themselves they may betray. When thou wilt swim in that live bath, Each fish, which every channel hath, Will amorously to thee swim, Gladder to catch thee, than thou him. If thou, to be so seen, beest loath, By sun or moon, thou darkenest both; And if myself have leave to see, I need not their light, having thee. Let others freeze with angling reeds, And cut their legs with shells and weeds, Or treacherously poor fish beset With strangling snare or windowy net. Let coarse bold hands from slimy nest The bedded fish in banks out-wrest, Or curious traitors, sleave-silk flies , Bewitch poor fishes’ wandering eyes. For thee, thou needest no such deceit, For thou thyself art thine own bait; That fish that is not catched thereby, Alas, is wiser far than I.

[Thomas Moore] An Argument--- I've oft been told by learned friars, That wishing and the crime are one, And Heaven punishes desires As much as if the deed were done. If wishing damns us, you and I Are damned to all our heart's content; Come, then, at least we may enjoy Some pleasure for our punishment!

[Alexander Pushkin] A Moment to Remember--- A magic moment I remember: I raised my eyes and you were there. A fleeting vision, the quintessence Of all that's beautiful and rare. I pray to mute despair and anguish To vain pursuits the world esteems, Long did I near your soothing accents, Long did your features haunt my dreams. Time passed- A rebel storm-blast scattered The reveries that once were mine And I forgot your soothing accents, Your features gracefully divine. In dark days of enforced retirement I gazed upon grey skies above With no ideals to inspire me, No one to cry for, live for, love. Then came a moment of renaissance, I looked up- you again are there, A fleeting vision, the quintessence Of all that`s beautiful and rare.
