Garrison, NY resident for past 20 years. Business travel was worldwide and frequent. Monthly trips to London during 10 year period as business head. Domestically, visited more than 50 cities. I HATE flying now--avoid it like the plague. Same holds true for visiting NYC. Born and raised there, but hate the environment (noise, road congestion and crowds).

Born in 1946 and raised poor in Brooklyn, NY (no family car, railroad cold-water flat, no telephone until 16, no refigerator until I was 10--ice box).
Found the love of my life in high-school (age 14), went to college together and married upon graduation. First and only child born when we were 23. We divorced :-(. We're still best of friends and she is an integral part of our extended family.
Began a professional career at 20 for a major CPA firm. Was put on fast-track and left for bigger and better things in 1972. Career path was uphill.
Fell prey to my genetic gene for alcoholism. Complete decline from grace in 1979 (28 years of sobriety now). Came back after the fall strong to regain my lofty status--it worked and I became a Division President when I was 40.
Found my soul-mate in 1980, a year after going straight--we've had the most happy marriage for 28 years.
Life was good until a sudden complete breakdown in 2000. Two years spent in a Black Hole, no light in sight. Bounced back once again after 3 more years of recovery.
Retired and went back to school and obtained a Certificate in Counselling for Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Decided to create a blogsite: "Save Our Children--Adolescents at Risk"---120 posts and 1,000 hours of research.
Joined Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in 2005 and took a volunteer position as an instructor in computer training for the over 50 crowd.
I'm the happiest guy I know. Personal philosophy: When you reach serenity and complete happiness, realize that you wouldn't have reached that point unless you lived throuugh all the hard times. You truly appreciare life.

Home. We also rent a house on Block Island for a week every year (5th yr in 2008). We get the same house every year because it's perfect for our needs. It's "H"-shaped, the middle portion containg the kitchen, living room and dining room--a terrific buffer from the grandchilren. One wing houses my daughter's family and nanny; the other is the Grandparents Wing--wife 1 of 4, in one room and my current wife in the Master Suite (I pay the whloe 9 yards so I get the option). I found my final resting place on Block Island at a beach close to our rental. I get up before dawn, find my spot on the beach, light up a pipe and put on my iPod earphones. I meditate as the sun rises and become mesmerized by the changing colors as the sun begins its ascent--even better when there are a few cloulds.

Sheltie dogs--We raise 5 at a time, but need to cutback as my wife nears retirement. We also have an Australian Shepard who's a big Teddy Bear--he looks after the little guys. In our 28 years together, my wife and I have had 8 dogs, 7 shelties and our big guy, Aussie. Our very first born in year one was named Brandy who died in 1995. She is the only one buried on our property with a granite footstone--the others look down on us from a shelf overlooking the "thrown".
