I was born in Charleston, WV. I have been to probably two thirds of the states but only out of the states once. That was at Niagra Falls where we crossed over into Canada. My husband and I loved to travel. We flew some but when we really wanted to see the sights we drove. We had so much fun!

I was born in WVa and lived the first 16 years up a country hollow. Everyone new everyone so we had to behave. On April 18, 1959 I was in a freak accident when a porch/balcony fell on me. My two friends were eaves dropping on their mothers and climbed up on the banister to hear better. When they started to get down the post fell out and the porch fell on me. When I regained conciousness my head was by my feet. I suffered a spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed and I spent the next two and a half years in hospitals and a Rehab Center.
While I was at the Rehab Center I met my husband to be, who was also a paraplegic due to an automobile accident, and we got married December 23, 1961. That was one day after my 19th birthday. My birthday was the 22nd and his parent's anniversary was the 24th so we wanted to get married on one or the other. However, my birthday fell on a Friday and his parent's anniversary was on Sunday so we got married the Saturday in between.
I was able to finish highschool and also took some art classes at the local college but never did much with it, except to paint and draw and hang the results in my home or give them to friends. I have always been careful not to force any of my work on anyone. If they requested any then I gave it to them. I also like to write poetry, or should say I did. I haven't written any for a while. And I like crafts but having had shoulder surgery twice I am not able to paint or do crafts much any more.
My husband of 44 years died March 25, 2005 of bladder and kidney problems. That is what kills most paraplegics. He had surgery about ten years earlier where they took 12 inches of his colon and made him a new bladder. That surgery saved his life at the time but ten years later he got a fistula (hole) in the manufactured bladder. The poisin from this is what caused his death. I miss him terribly! We never had any children.
We celebrated everything in December. His birthday was December 16th, mine the 22nd and our anniversary the 23rd. That is the reason I dread the Christmas Season. It is really hard, but one could say I am gettting rid of everything in ten days.
I will be 65 this December and am recieving all kinds of mail that won't let me forget it. Everyone wants to sell me life insurance or suplemental insurance. I don't need either.
That is pretty much it. I don't really plan to remarry and will stay in my home as long as I can, with my two dogs.
