    About me

Mzungu (also spelled muzungu) means 'white person' in Kiswahili.  The term is used in many African countries and is not used in a derogatory manner.  When walking down the road we often hear people calling out 'mzungu, mzungu' just to get our attention or to try to sell us something.  I am a mzungu living in Uganda for 2 years with my husband who has volunteered with VSO.  <---See details in my History.

I have an extensive blog about our experiences in Uganda including a link to my photo album:

    • Just discovered I had a guest book! Unfortunately since my internet in Uganda is painfully slow, I don't check forums or message boards often.

In answer to Briganter's Q... mozzies are mosquitoes. In the US we called them skeeters but I've picked up the European nickname.

    • Annie, I just started reading your blog. Will get back to it ASAP. I think I could cope with most of it, but what are mozzies?
