About me
Yes, that is me, Kathy Patrick, on your left with Diane Sawyer. We finally met this past June as my book club, The Pulpwood Queens, kicked off her and Charlie Gibson's READ THIS Book Club on Good Morning America. You see I run the largest "meeting and discussing" book club in the world, The Pulpwood Queens. You can read all about my life in books when my first book is released January 2, 2008, "The Pulpwood Queens' Tiara Wearing, Book Sharing Guide to Life", Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books). Diane's in the book too as I adore this woman! Can you tell? I also run the ONLY Hair Salon/Book Store in the country, Beauty and the Book in historic Jefferson, Texas. Why don't you all come for a visit? I'll leave the hair dryer on for ya!

Interests and Activities
Activities
I love to read and authors are my people. My life revolves around books but at the same time folks, it's God first, family, second, friends are next. Where's work?
I love my work too as for me it's more like play but if I do have some time off and I'm not doing something with my church, family, reading a book or doing an author event, I like to travel. I love to see how people live anywhere and welcome invites to tour homes. I also have a thing for window dressers. I would love to meet the one at Bergdorf Goodman's in New York as to me their windows are the best I have ever seen. I love art museums, music, especially events at Music City Texas which is this wonderful old restored VFW out in the sticks in East Texas where I live and you'll see anybody from Don Henley of Eagles fame, to Jackson Brown to four time grammy winner Jo-El Sonnier. Best kept secret in Texas. I also love theater and so do my two teenage girls. We hit every theater production in the Ark.La.Tex and they star in quite a few local and school productions too! If something involves the arts, I am so there.
Favorite Music
I love all types of music but tend to gravitate back to those old 45's of my youth with Buddy Holly, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Johnny Mathis, The Beach Boys, The Beatles but today enjoy Harry Connick, Jr., The Terms, Marshall Chapman, okay so I'm eclectic! I love too the music of Broadway musicals. Right now I know all the tunes to HAIRSPRAY!
Favorite TV Shows
The only television show I really watch is "Dancing with the Stars" as usually reading. But I also love all awards television programs including the Academy Awards, the Tonys, Country Music Awards, and was a sucker for the Miss America pageant but alas, I believe they are no longer televising that show of my youth. It was so much fun to make fun of the contestants, darn it!
Favorite Movies
My favorite movies are as my children put it, the gray ones. Yes, the classic black and white. I loved Tarzan movies, anything Rock Hudson, Doris Day, James Gardner, Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn. My favorite movie of all time is "Man's Favorite Sport" starring Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss and my favorite book made to movie is"To Kill a Mockingird". Today my favorite movies have been "The Shawshank Redemption", "Steel Magnolias", "My Dog Skip", "The Great Santini", "Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" and "Elizabeth Town". Did I mention westerns? I love all westerns from Roy Rogers to John Wayne to anything with Robert Duvall!
