Salem Community High School. Salem, IL. 1957-1961, and loved school, though had lots of fights due to being from my little town, riding bus. Loved the girls, and they were more than good to me. Still have to grin. I was the rebel, James Dean my hero. So much so that went to his hometown a few years ago, visited his home, museum, high school, with a friend my age, and my son, who grew up with him as his favorite actor, when he was a teen. Going again with another friend this year.

Double major: Poli Sci/History, took LSAT thought Law School, but was married by then and wife said Law School, over YOUR DEAD BODY! Oh well, we had 2 children after that and if that was my fate, it was good, but always regret no Law Degree. I later got a Masters Certificate in Gerontology, and still think of going back to finish the few hours a MS is away.

Grew up working for farmers, bailing and throwing hay, plowing and building fence. Went to Air Force after one year of college. Worked for NSA, 1 yr in Texas, 18 mo in Turkey, 18 months MD. After finished college, became Bank Officer, 20 yrs, then 10 yrs as a Riverboat Gaming Slot Dept. Manager. Retired, due to health problems.

I will be 64 on May 4, '07, ouch! I don't generally feel that old. I am a liberal, I love Barak Obama right now. I am in Illinois, right across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis, MO. I have 2 children of my own, and the world's greatest step daughter. My son has given me one grandson so far, 9 this month and gorgeous. My step daughter 3 grandchildren 2 girls, one boy, all gorgeous like there mother. I love good books, like those by Cormack McCarthy, Pat Conroy, etc. biographie

Favorite Movies

Red River, though not a great fan of John Wayne. The GodFather Series. East of Eden (James Dean), and Rebel Without A Cause. Hated most of Giant. At the time: Love With The Proper Stranger and Bullet. Love to watch Brad Pitt, George Clooney, in his "good" movies. Love most DiNiro films. Love documentaries and Indie movies. Breach out now, great movie. The Good Shepard, the Departed.

24, Deadwood, Sopranos, Huff, Rome, Cheers, Howdy Doody, Mash, Peter Gunn, 60 Minutes, most cable news, not FOX! LA Law, old Saturday Night Live, first years. The Unit (Mamet), Bill Mahr.

Activities

Not much of a joiner. I have been a member of the American Legion, now belong to Viet Nam Veterans Against the War. Once belonged to Optimists, I am not optimistic; was an Elk, antlers were dull so dropped out to have them sharpened; was in the Air Force, couldn't wait to remedy that, but it took 4 years; member of the bad marriage club, 13 years later got out when she flaunted her affair, but got 2 beautiful children from it, so it was worth the torture of 1000 cuts; former board member of United Way, and also Muscular Dystrophy in Illinois, moved away. Was a Bank Exec for 20 years, 10 years as a casino dept. manager, and NO it was not fun. Dealt with drunks who had lost too much money too many times. Still love people, however. I am just careful.

Favorite Books

Anything by Pat Conroy, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Cormack McCarthy, dozens of others. Will read almost anything historical, particularly Abraham Lincoln, love great fiction. Conroy's "The Great Santini" is a favorite, my son bought me an autographed copy for my birthday this year. I also emailed him and he answered personally. I was impressed.

Favorite Places

I absolutely loved London when I was there years ago. I loved Harpers Ferry, WV for the spectacular view, hope it hasn't changed. Must see the view from the cemetary above the town. I love the Southwest, and am a huge reader on the TRUE old west.
