More about me

     I'm  81 years old,  retired 21 years from a 34-year teaching career.  My lovely wife, Marge, also a retired teacher, and I live in Joplin, MO where we own and operate a tiny bed and breakfast. We have been open for two years.  We thoroughly enjoy hosting guests.  We continue to make new friends, thus enriching our lives.  View  our website: www.bitofedenbnb.com or access our listing with www.bbonline.com.  Look for  B&Bs in Joplin, MO.

     My education began with two years in an eight-grade, one-room country school.  Most often I rode to school, a distance of two and a half miles, on a horse, behind an older brother.  Often, in nice weather, I walked.

     The remaining years through highschool were spent at the demonstration school on the campus of Central State College, now UCO, in Edmond, Oklhoma.

     Throughout life my main interests, other than a teaching career, have been centered around art and art-related activities. 

     For the most part, life has been rich and rewarding.  It has been marred by losing two of our three children to diabetes.

Favorite People

My wife, Marge . . . . My brothers, all three passed on. Brother Jack, almost 93, passed away March 20, 2008. That leaves me the only one left of a family of seven children.

Favorite Places

The homes I have owned which I have treated as canvases, turning them into works of art. . . . . . Favorite places include the Southwestern and Western states of New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. . . Also I love the Ozarks and the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

Favorite Animals

My dog, and second best friend, Ulysses (Uly for short), our three-quarter-grown brat cat, Tommy Tuck, our free spirit cat, Rudolph Stapleton Scholastica. I won't mention our third cat, Little Bit (No tail) because she hates me.
