Places I've been

I grew up in a small town just upriver from New Orleans ... near a bend in the river called Twelve Mile Point ... on the site of an old Sugar Plantation. My family has lived here for five generations. I moved to a neighboring city for 25 years, but now I'm back. I've traveled most of the US except the Northwest. I've been to Mexico, Canada and S. Korea. My next trip is the Brittish Isles.

 Isn't life wonderful?  I'm finally old enough to know how a mature woman is expected to act, but now I find I'm too damn young to care about other people's opinions and expectations. I feel perfectly free to do as I please, say what I think and be exactly who I am.  And the greatest thing is that I think I've got life figured out now.  It's all about LOVE.  It is my true belief that the meaning of life is purely and simply, Love. Love is our origin and our destination.  Love is the journey and Love is our ultimate motivation.  Love is the reason and the purpose of our lives. Love is the reward for a life well lived.  I also believe thagt we should live and let live and that what goes around, comes around.  I figure we should all take care to dish out the good stuff, as whatever comes from us, returns to us at least threefold.  I do my best to allow Love to permeate me and to emanate from me, to give and to receive it as generously and as graciously as possible.  I am not, of course, always successful, but I endeavor to make all my decisions and determinations from a position of Love.  Love is my guide and my inspiration.  Love is all I need and all I really have to offer.  This philosophy makes me feel very content, confident and comfortable with myself and the world in which I live.  I am happy with who I am at this moment and quite hopeful about the woman I may yet become. 

I am 100% real woman and all that encompasses.  I am feminine, voluptuous, intuitive, insightful, artistic, creative, sensitive, compassionate, nurturing, empathetic, soft, strong, sensual and romantic.  I am eagerly expectant and genuinely enthusiastic about life, emotionally vital, spiritually passionate,  mentally vivacious and sexually adventurous.  I intend to fully live, love and laugh every day of the rest of my life.

I have one daughter, age 25, who is starting graduate school to become a psychologist.  I am employed as a nurse in an Alzheimer's unit, where there are ten lovely ladies in my care.  All have differing levels of dementia.  We laugh together and sometimes we cry together and ocasionally they use me for a punching bag, but all in all, it's just a big love fest. There is never a dull moment and you never know what's going to happen.  Away from work, my passions are gardening, writing and painting.  I adore Nature in all Her glory, and I like to go hiking, camping, boating, biking and horseback riding.  I'll even take a spin on a motorcycle, as long as I don't have to drive.  I would love to meet friends in my area to share a giant cup of coffee and conversation or a generous serving of tea and sympathy.  It would be great to go for a walk or browse a museum, wander through a botanical garden, view an art exhibit, visit a historical site, or perhaps, attend a movie, concert or festival.  I would also love to correspond with folks around the country and the world about our similar interests and talents or whatever you may be passionate about.  Please drop me a note and introduce yourself.  I'm eager for opportunities to learn something new, do something I've never done or go somewhere I've never been and I'm always delighted to make a new friend.

Activities

Gardening is my passion, although I do enjoy just about anything Nature based, zoos, aquariums, wildlife preserves. I love to travel, but more to the countryside than to the big cities. I love to cook and I do it well, but I like it best when someone else is doing the dishes. I am always on a spiritual quest ... meditating, reading and studying. I'm not a fan of organized religion ... much too confining for me. Earth based, Goddess centered worship is most comforting to me. I write poetry, am working on a novel at present, love to paint, especially landscapes, flowers and trees ... in oils, acrylics and watercolor. I've tried my hand at papermaking, candlemaking and soapmaking as well. It makes me happy to create something of beauty.

Favorite Charities

I was a Girl Scout as a kid and a troop leader for several years. Lately, I've volunteered as a committee member for a community art show. The inaugural event was held the second Saturday in October and it was a great success.

Favorite Music

Old rock, smooth jazz, cool blues and new age. Classical is fine, even country, but I have about a five minute tolerance for rap and opera ... okay maybe just one minute of rap is all it takes to annoy me.

Favorite TV Shows

Hmmm, when I have time, I like Bones, Medium, CSI, Law and Order and House ... Oh, and I just love Ugly Betty, Gray's Anatomy and Men in Trees.

Favorite Movies

Casablanca, Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, An affair to Remember, Harry Potter. You get the picture ... Romance and fantasy.

My grandmother who was as kind and loving as a person can be ... and as strong and determined as she had to be to keep eight kids together, happy, clothed and fed during the war after my grandfather died when she was pregnant with their eighth child.
