Brooklyn born, but moved to southern California when I was about 2 1/2. Originally lived in Sun Valley (in the San Fernando Valley when it was a nice place); then moved to Orange County. It was beautiful then; I remember the smell of oranges and sea salt in the air. When I was 11, I moved with my mother to Denver, Colorado, where I've (pretty much) stayed ever since, with a few detours back to L.A. (Pasadena area) and NYC. My work has allowed me to travel fairly extensively across the U.S. I love Boston, NYC and the west coast. In terms of traveling abroad, however, (sadly) I've only been to Mexico.

- Metropolitan State College of Denver, Journalism - 1979 to 1981

Both my kids still live at home. Drew just turned 20 and Devin is 18. Drew is a very talented writer, but he is struggling to really find himself; he currently works full-time and writes A LOT. Devin is attending the Lamont School of Music at University of Denver and majoring in music performance. She plays flute.
Trained to be a journalist, I spent a decade as a flack and segued into fundraising for nonprofits. I do love my work. Although it can be exhausting, it can also be exhilarating. I work for a small fundraising consulting firm that works with mid-sized nonprofits of many stripes. We specialize in capital (sticks and bricks) campaigns, although we also provide other services. I'm one of those people who wants to change the world. I can't imagine a better job -- making an impact on a variety of organizations instead of just one.
Very important to me is my faith. I have been a Christ-follower since my late teens. Unfortunately, I don't have a church home at the moment, although I've been regularly visiting a place since last fall. Also important to me are my political convictions, which are somewhat left of center. Certainly, America is at a cross-roads, and when I became a Christian, I did not simultaneously sign up to become a right-wing Republican!

Well, there's The Beatles.
Besides them being the greatest band ever, I love just about every kind of music -- I cut my teeth on classical music, literally, since my mother was once training to sing opera.
Country/western -- both kinds -- no. I LOATHE it (with the exception of Johnny Cash, Lyle Lovett and kd Lang) and rap (although I do enjoy some hip hop).
Very eclectic, I guess. OK, I'm messed up; what can I say? - Favorite TV Shows

Reading lots these days by Pia Mellody/Melody Beattie.
In terms of fiction, I enjoy almost all of Anne Tyler's quirky characters, Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series (he captures the dark heart of Los Angeles very well), Philip K. Dick's short stories, Willa Cather, Walker Percy, "Snow Falling on Cedars" by David Guterson, "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb, many of C.S. Lewis's essays, and most anything by Wallace Stegner. - Favorite Quotes

"And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." -- Micah 6:8
"A good time was had by all. Except for Spencer Tracy, who wasn't all there..." -- John Lennon
“For as long as you can remember, you have been a pleaser, depending on others to give you an identity. You need not look at that only in a negative way. You wanted to give your heart to others, and you did so quickly and easily. But now you are being asked to let go of all these self-made props and trust that God is enough for you. You must stop being a pleaser and reclaim your identity as a free self.” -- Henri Nouwen - Favorite Places
