July 2007 - I 've just returned from a three-week driving vacation to Vancouver, WA via St. Louis, Denver, Laramie, Boise and Portland. Then we returned by going down the CA coast and across the southwestern states. It was fabulous! I can't wait to do it again - - -only stay longer in each state!

Hey, Y'all! I'm an eighth generation Southerner. I've lived here in the Atlanta Metro Area most of my life. My parents were both South Carolinians, what we call Low Country people 'cuz they lived closer to the water - - - my Mom was from Charleston. I'm an Army brat, born at Fort Gordon and I'm a Marine widow. My husband and I were married for 24 years. I lost him six years ago. I work for the federal government. I enjoy gardening, counted cross stitch, knitting, reading, cooking and entertaining. I'm a great appreciator of music - - - almost any genre, but I especially love jazz, R&B as well as standards and classic rock. Currently, I am between roommates. I used to share my home with my friend, Leisa who is like a sister to me, but she left me for a man! Go figure! Seriously, I am very happy for her. She got married this winter. Unfortunately, the "male" in my life, Mr. Scamp, the six-year old Airedale Terrier in the picture with me, went over the rainbow bridge. I miss him greatly, but I have been so busy traveling for work, I have not yet gotten another four-legged companion. Meanwhile, I have a steady stream of friends and relatives who stop in for a weekend or a few weeks at a time. It's fun. Then of course there is my travel for work, which I have truly enjoyed. I really love traveling and meeting new folks and trying to leave the world a better place than I found it.

I adore cooking as long as I have somebody around who is hungry. Drop by the house and I'll try to feed you - - -guaranteed! I love alchemy, archeology, astrology, decorating, drawing, family and friends, feng shui, gardening, history, metaphysics and philosophy as well as the lost art of conversation (you know, talking)! I like my creature comforts and color - - - lots and lots of color!

Other than being a football fanatic (college or the NFL) I'm a TV snob as I really don't like sit-coms and can't stand reality TV on any level! Therefore, in the off season I usually watch A&E, Discovery, National Geo, Travel, Fine Living, History, HGTV, Food Network, Lifetime, or USA. I love Burn Notice any of the CSIs and NCIS. Other than that, I read or surf!

I've been addicted to books since I learned to read at age four. I love all books and many friends tease me about being a perpetual student. I'm always researching SOMETHING. Pretty much like my favorite movies, I like mysteries, crime and/or spy thrillers, sci-fi, etc. I always have at least one book in progress, sometimes two or more!

I think I am really lucky because I have two personal heros. Both are dead, but I continue to feel their influence every day. The first one is my late husband, Bob (with me in my profile picture) a Viet Nam vet. He died 10 January 2003 way too soon. He was my best friend and a career Marine. Need I say more? The other was my Uncle Ward, who just left us on 12 May at age 93. He was my Uncle, my godfather and the closest thing I had to a Daddy. He was a retired Navy E9 and a WWII, Korean and Viet Nam Vet. These two men were very different and very much alike; totally at odds and completely in accord. Although I have known quite a few men socially and in my career, I have known painfully few who came anywhere close to either of them.

I love to travel and two years ago when I went across country to attend my stepson's wedding in Washington State, I had my first opportunity to actually see this great county of ours from the front seat of an SUV! It was FABULOUS! I want to do it again - - - yesterday! Since that time, I have also had the opportunity to visit St. Louis and Chicago for extended trips for work. I enjoyed both place tremendously, but I fell in love with Chiicago! What a great city that is!
