About

More about me

Hi Folks:

I'm Jack O'Connor.  I'm 68 years old and live in Wallingford Ct with my wife of 37 years, Nancy, and my Miniature Schnauzer Katie.

I'm retired (5 years) from the former Loctite Corp and was responsible for Cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) product development for many years.  I'm a political conservative and voted for both Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

My interests include antique and classic cars which is obvious here, but also antique outboard motors (I have about 45 in my collection) and am an old railroad nut, having been an employee of the old, proud but now deceased New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Co.   I also dabble in Digital Photography.  I'm not particularly good but I appreciate good photos and some on this site are terriffic.

I enjoy boating, driving and puttering around with my old Vette as well as the old outboards.  I follow the American Lemans series endurance racing  and get to races at Lime rock Race Track.  I also enjoy taking pictures of old NHRR rail equipment and facilities, studying various topics that interest me on the internet.

There was some fishing activity when we were there, but certainly nothing like it used to be. It's a shame that all those fishermen went under due to "big business". Have you been up to Rockport? That has to be my favorite little town. I just love walking those streets. I've got about a million pictures of that red shackhouse that's called Motif 1, it's supposed to be one of the most photographed buildings in the world.

Nope, Route 66 is 100 miles north. I did the 66 trip last spring on the way back from picking up the car in Detroit. Went from Chicago to Flagstaff with lots of side trip where the road still exists through IL, MO, KN, OK, NM and AZ which has the longest stretch - From Seligman to the California border. That stretch hosts a 2 day cruise every May. view link Driving the "Mother Road" is a real step back in time.

we were in Boston for a conference in 1976. No tall ships though, but lots of old Mayflower types to visit. I'd love to see the tall ships.
