In 1987 I suffered from severe arthritis in my left hand, which was painful and crippling.
I was working in my home town, Toronto, on a TV Movie called ‘A Christmas Wife’, which starred Jason Robarts, Julie Harris and Don Franks. Around the corner, there was a homeopathic store, Thompson’s, that had been in business since 1868. I decided to see whether homeopathy could help me. Within days of starting to take the remedies I began to experience a tremendous relief of my symptoms. I have kept my Arthritis painless and under good control ever since.
My personal experiences sold me on homeopathy, and I decided to bring homeopathy to the movies -- or rather to film sets where I work as a First Assistant Director. Making films requires intensive work, and a healthy crew is essential in order to produce at peak efficiency.
I bought some remedies and diagnosing books and began offering help to crew and cast members for common ailments. Over time and experience my kit grew larger, and due to the success of the remedies, “Dr. John” was often called for on the set. The remedies relieved many ailments: injuries; physical, mental and emotional distress; stiff muscles after stunts; performance jitters; and other problems caused by the stress of little to no rest or over-work. Today, my kit is an indispensable part of any set on which I work, and production managers are more than happy to pay for the remedies, as they are so successful.
Although I carry a large kit and several diagnosing books, there are some remedies that seem to be the most commonly used, whether in the production office, on the film set or in any abnormal physical or emotional situation that arises . With this in mind, I designed this “Survival Kit”. It incorporates useful remedies for the common ailments that most people experience. I happened upon your 'flu' post and you have me curious about Homeopathy. Could you point me in the direction of any of your resources regarding this topic. I was 'diagnosed' with rheumatoid arthritis a couple of years ago (even though I don't 'test' for it) and unfortunately allopathic medicine was of no help. A year after the diagnosis, I checked out a doctor of Homeopathy in my area (Cleveland, Ohio) and she recommended following the 'B' type diet (eat right 4 your blood type, which I had already been loosely adhering to) coupled with an alkaline diet. I have had much better success with the pain, swelling and stiffness in this endeavor (totally rejecting the allopathic doctor's 'medicines') and wondered if there was anything else I could do to help the process along. Any suggestions would be welcome.
