I have been happily married for over 12 years (2^nd marriage) to a special and wonderful man! I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. My daughter, who teaches German and History, has a daughter and a son—my son’s wife just gave birth to a precious little girl in September. I am a retired Labor & Delivery R.N.—though the retirement wasn’t by choice. Sadly, I developed an allergy to latex rubber, a substance which permeates all aspects of medicine. Given a choice between breathing well and delivering babies, I chose breathing…go figure. But I do miss my profession every single day.

Btw, "Jenoveva" was my German grandmother's nickname for me. I don't know why she chose it, because my real name is Susan. I had given no thought about the name or how it was spelled until I ran across the Polish version of this name on a web site I was looking at. All the memories came flooding back to me then.

I created a group on Eons called German genealogy. About 17% of the population of the US is of German descent. I wanted a site which would cover not only Germany as it is today, but also Austria and Switzerland, as well as Germany of the past (West Prussia, East Prussia, Volhynia, Sudetenland, Alsace-Lorraine, etc.).

I have been involved in genealogy for 13+ years. I am fairly proficient in German, having studied it for 8 years. I have been helped over the years, at no cost to me most of the time, by so many people that I wanted to be able to "pay it forward."

I would recommend highly Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. I mostly read non-fiction though--biographies, social issues, medical books, historical books, etc.
