About me
Prior to moving to Florida in 2001, I lived in the Chicago area for 34 years; 28 of those years married to my very nice ;o) husband! We had a major change of employment in 2000, and decided that NOW was the time to relocate to a nicer climate. We seriously hadn't thought about hurricanes, because the area we moved to hadn't had a direct hit since 1949. So, we spent the next three years becoming accustomed to our new surroundings ... and then the 2004/2005 hurricanes seasons hit! And, did we get an education! "Frances" & "Jeanne" hit within three weeks of each other in August, 2004 and "Wilma" came from the west in October, 2005. Although all three storms were devastating to our area, we were lucky enough to sustain very little damage to our home & property. We are grateful for that! Anyway, we've had two calm years ... and we're hoping for many more. Hubby and I have been married 35 years now, we have twin sons, aged 32 and two adorable grandchildren, ages 3 and 2. We continue to be happy in our "new" home, even though we miss family and friends we left behind in the far North.
