Failing to plan IS planning to fail. Living paycheck to paycheck, raising two great kids, and suddenly one is in college and I am faced with the fact of retirement. A friend is married to a lady from the Philippines and I begin to ponder.... I set out on an 18 month search using the internet. Then I see a profile on a small dating site. I am 10yrs past her parameters, but I take a chance. Praise God, she did too!

Last year I visited her in the Philippines and fell in love with my beautiful wife, her family and her country. The Philippines is a wonderful land of contradictions and surprises. I heard it expressed once as "450 years of the Catholic Church and 50 years of Mickey Mouse"! The United States won the Philippines in the Spanish American war of 1898 I believe. English is widely spoken, family values still have some meaning, and the excange rate is extremely favorable. Goods produced in the Philippines are very cheap as is real estate. Imported goods are comparable in quality and price as in U.S.

It is my plan to retire there sometime after I turn 55 and  

my wife is ready.
