If God made an animal more beautiful than the horse, He kept if for Himself....
It isn't about me--it's about my ranch and my horses. They are my life and one of many reasons I thank God every morning when they wake me up at 5:00 AM demanding their breakfast (ya don't need an alarm clock or roosters around here!).
Havano Ranch is located on 30 acres just a little north of Elfrida, Arizona, which is in the south east corner of the state. It's beautiful here! My main goal for the ranch is to establish a Safe Haven for unwanted, neglected and/or abused horses. It's going to take a LOT of work and I am only one person, but with God's good grace, He will see to it that it rains corral panels, fencing, sun shades, hay, human help, funding and the equipment that I need to achieve that goal.
In the meantime, I'm trying to support the ranch through the sale of my artwork and other "horsie" items that I make by hand. Some months are better than other months, but any month in which the mortgage company is happy, the lights stay on and there's plenty of hay in the barn is a GOOD month! My website address is: www.havanoranch.com. BUY A SHOE--FEED A HORSE!
My secondary goal for the ranch is to have a meditation area and possibly small chapel. This too, will require a lot of work and a really long hose for the trees I want to plant in the meditation area, but I'm always up for a challenge, and again, with God's good grace, anything can happen!

- Favorite Charities

Currently I am involved with the Agape Youth Ranch summer horse camp program. I am directing (or dictating--depending on who you ask) the arts and crafts portion of the week long camp. Other favorite charities are any that provide a safe place for unwanted, abused and/or neglected horses and those that provide theraputic riding.

I'm too far "out in the sticks and behind mountains" for an antenna to pull in local stations and am currently too poor to afford satellite or cable, so don't have TV right now. Back in the good ol' days, I watched HGTV, RFD-TV, DIY-TV The Discovery Channel, The History Channel and like to watch Cops on Saturday nights.

Two of my own: "It's not the trail you ride, but how you ride the trail. Sometimes, it's better to get off your horse and walk." "The light at the end of the tunnel isn't always a train." From others: "If God made an animal more beautiful that the horse, He kept it for Himself." "Ah, steeds, steeds, what steeds! Has the whirlwind a home in your manes? Is there a sensitive ear, alert as a flame, in your every fiber? Hearing the familiar song from above, all in one accord, you strain your bronze chests and, hooves barely touching the ground, turn into straight lines cleaving the air, and all inspired by God it rushes on!" (Nikolai V. Gogol in "Dead Souls" translated from Russian)

Horses, horses, horses. Did I mention horses? Yeah--I have cats and dogs, a big ol' Koi named Ralphie that lives in the fountain on the front patio (he came with the ranch) and some other gold fish that live in a smaller pond, but horses are NUMERO UNO!!!! ...but I've always been interested in raising Alpacas, too.....

Recently I found a therapeutic riding center near me and volunteered there. I finally could be around horses again and grew to love the kids I worked with that now I am an assistant teacher with special needs kids (part time). Havent gotten back to the horses for awhile though. Cant wait till I can retire and do it more often.
Keep up the great work and you will be in my prayers.
