Actually born in Detroit but moved to Decatur where I really grew up. Taught school there for 10 years, then moved to Chicago. Moved to Palo Alto California (San Francisco bay area) in 1997.

I am entering the next phase of my life, and enjoying it beyond belief! Retirement is wonderful!
I grew up in a small farm town in central Illinois. It was a pretty conservative area, and I wound up dropping out of high school after my junior year - long hair, politically active, and really didn't fit into the bible belt. I was accepted into college without a diploma because of excellent test scores, not because of my civic responsibility..
During college, I discovered civic responsibility. I became a father and married my college girlfriend - roughly in that order. With a family, I discovered I had an overdeveloped sense of responsibilty and loved family life. My daughter, now 37, with my two grandsons, gives me endless joy. I am still married to that wonderful woman I married in 1970.
I taught grade school in Decatur, became intrigued with computers in the mid 1970s, built one from scratch, introduced it to my class, and within a couple of years I was coordinating computer education for the state of Illinois.
I joined Apple Computer in 1983, and just retired from it in June 2007. A great career with many experiences to treasure, and friends that will be with meĀ forever.
Living in Palo Alto California (we moved here in 1997) I find all the technical, cultural, artistic, and nature opportunities creating a perfect life. I plan on using Palo Alto as the base for my retirement with much travel to come.

Pretty much everything - and I mean it. 60s rock, folk, blues. Classical - particularily chamber music. Jazz - from Brubeck to Koz to Chet Atkins. Country - Mary Chapin Carpenter rather than the twangy stuff. Greatful Dead - I can listen all day to their stuff (and saw the next to last concert in Chicago - one of only about a dozen I had the opportunity to see)

Science Fiction! I am a real fan of Babylon 5 - have all the script books, a member of JMS' web mailins, looking forward to the new releases summer of 2007. Dresden Files, Dexter, Sopranos, Heros, 24 (though not season 6), Penn & Teller, Bill Mahr, Lost - in general I like story arcs rather than episodic shows.
