About me
I have taught Sunday School to children 4-6 years old for the past 33 years. I went to clown school 3 years ago and am now a professional clown. This year the economy is not so good in Mich so clown jobs are scarce but I hope in the future it will get better. I would like to do clowning for the elderly, and special needs children. I volunteer with local animal rescue groups. I have adopted 2 kitty's, one is Little Rickie (in the picture) a 3 year old Maine Coon mix who suffers from inflammatory bowel disease but is doing much better. The other is a sweet, timid, little gray tabby named Bonnie. Five months ago my vet said the best diet for Rickie is a raw food diet so through much research and joining a Yahoo group on feline raw feeding I have now transitioned both on to 40% canned grain free and 60% raw food. Both are doing well and Rickie is off all meds and has not seen the vet in 4 months. I also have two 14 year old Cockatiels who share my home and my life. Last year I adopted a kitten for my sister for her birthday - that is Gitche.
Update - Just wanted to share two great things with you about my two beautiful kits. They saw the vet on 9/8/07 and Rickie is doing wonderful and she is very pleased. He has no inflammation whatsoever in his abdomen and he has gone from 10.2Lbs to 11.15Lbs in 4.5 months and on his way to his high weight of around 13 Lbs. Bonnie is doing well but had to have a broken tooth pulled and a dental cleaning but came through it perfect. She is such a sweet little girl kit - so timid and so loving. Also, my dad had to go into a nursing home recently and I took Little Rickie for a visit and he was so loving and sweet and even went from room to room on his leash and stopped to let people pet him. For those in wheelchairs he let me hold him so they could also pet him. Never saw a cat like this and the NH employees never did either and were amazed and welcomed him back. I, Fluffee, also went to the nursing home and entertained and plan to set up regular visits soon. ***Bonnie Update On Saturday 10/13/07 I had to take my timid little girl kit Bonnie to the vet. She had a mosquito bite over her eye that she itched so much she got a little infection. So, was given antibiotic ointment to rub on it and she is doing fine and is now all healed up. But Since the Vet office is so close to the nursing home where my dad is I decided to try and see how my sweet Bonnie would do with a visit there even though she is quite timid. I was absolutely amazed and touched. Bonnie did great. Of course, she does not walk on a leash like Rickie but I carried her around and the residents loved her and petted and talked to her. One lady, who is blind in one eye, asked me her name while she was petting and loving on her. When I told her "Bonnie" she was thoughtful at first and then started singing the song "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean". The other two residents sitting at her table sang with her and I joined in. I was so emotionally touched to see the joy my dear sweet Bonnie brought to these ladies that day and the others that petted her and loved on her. This gave them the opportunity to pet a small animal and this, as you know, brings comfort to those people and this also gave them the opportunity to talk to me about their pets they had in the past. I am anxious to take her back again. It was sweet that every time I would walk past that table taking Bonnie to visit others one of the ladies sitting there watching us would say out loud "Therrrre goes BONNNEEE" It was so sweet and absolutely a delightful day. We were there about 2 hours and Bonnie had already been gone from home over 3 hours due to taking her to the vet first and in the end she got a little squirmy and was ready to go but I am anxious to do this again. My two kits bring such joy to my life.
