Places I've been

I grew up in a small village in Bedfordshire England and I spent a lot of my childhood on and around my friends farm. The village I lived in was a farming community. It changed a lot over the years I was lucky to live there when it was unspoilt. I helped with the animals and harvest. When I left school I began work just after my 15th birthday. School was very much different then and we learned a complete all rounded curriculum. I went to work as an office junior and learned to "key punch" so most of my working life was involved with computers. Things sure changed fast in that field. I ended in banking still working with computers. When I was 15 a computer took up a whole room and we could not imagine why or how anyone would want a home computer.......just goes to show

I am retired, sort of...I watch my nieces little boy and her friends baby. I retired after 21 years of banking. I love to write to people especially in other countries and learn about other cultures. I am English originally and now live in Michigan. I enjoy many crafts and enjoy nature. I have three poodles, two cats and I lost my horse this Spring at the age of 41 . I love the outdoors and although I still miss England I love northern Michigan among other places. I hope to make new friends and be able to talk about things of interest. I now manage a few groups, I found it better to have my own so that I can find people with the same interests. I am really enjoying that. My favorite is "All about Britain"  it has some great people in it. "Adventures in Archeology and history" that satisfies my love of all of those types of things. I love history especially English and Native American.

"God is Good" really helps me balance myself spiritually and "Poodles and the People who Love them" takes care of my love of poodles. I also manage a group called "America the Beautiful" I was so tired of all the backbiting and hard feelings during the election so I designed this group to talk about what we all LOVE about this beautiful country.

 

 

I enjoy watching movies and would rather do that than watch TV,

My favorite flowers are bluebells and violets. Spring flowers are lovely as well, I really enjoy the garden and have been interested in gardening since my Dad let me have a small plot in his garden. I used to walk in the fields and woods as a child and look for violets and cowslips in the Springtime.

I love fantasy, things like fairies intrigue me. Legends and mythology make me want to explore possibilities, I believe that in every myth is a grain of truth, in every legend a real person.

Favorite TV Shows

Not a lot left to like about TV. E.R will be done soon and thats about the only thing left that I like a lot. I watch NCIS and some of the CSI but can take or leave it. Looking forwards to a new season of "The Tudors" I hope.

So many I just can not say...I love history and like to read historical fiction if it does not take too many liberties with the facts I have bought a lot of biographies but they are usually hard going.

Crazy Horse. Billy Graham. Bono. Cher. Bill Clinton. Barack Obama. Che. My dad. I admire what Brad Pitt and Angelina Joli are trying to accomplish. Elizabeth 1st. Winston Churchill. William Wilberforce. People who give back to those who have less Bill Gates and Warren Buffet I admire them for that. I admire individuals who stand up against the odds to change what they percieve to be wrong. I might not agree with them but I can still admire them.

Favorite Places

Avebury in England. In fact the English countryside in general there is just so much to see. I also love Canada but have not seen enough. I also like where I live in Traverse City because we have some wonderful country around here. T.C is the cherry capital of the world and so I include Cherries in my profile. Leelanau County has wonderful lakes and dunes. We also love the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where its still undeveloped. Copper Harbor and the Keewanau.

Favorite Animals

My poodles and my horse. We have two cats and they are OK too. (Wolves are my favorite wild animal and the tiger. Horses and elephants and giraffes. I love all animals so its hard to say but I feel a special love for the wolf.
