Places I've been

Born in New York, moved to Michigan when I was young, lived there until ten years ago, then moved to Indiana. I love to travel, but I don't like flying. Mostly road trips around the US and Canada. My favorite place to visit so far is Mackinac Island and Michigan's Upper Peninsular. Toronto is spectacular in the fall.

More about me

I live in a small town in the very northwest tip of Indiana. My childen are all married and live in Michigan.   I can't wait to retire and open a little used paperback bookstore. I'm not looking to make a lot of money, I just want to share my love of reading.  Some good books, comfy chairs to sit and read a book that catches your interest and a never ending pot of coffee.  Sounds good to me!  I enjoy reading, gardening, needlework, traveling and seeing the country on our motorcycle.  I am a two time breast cancer survivor, celebrating ten years cancer free this fall.  I love all the seasons, but fall is my favorite.  I like all animals, and currently have a nine year old rescue Airedale named Maggie. She is my shadow and follows me everywhere.  Sadly, we had to have Maggie put down this spring after a courageous battle with kidney failure.

 

Activities

I like reading (a lot), Elizabethian History, needlework, gardening, motorcycle riding and taking long walks.

Favorite Charities

Susan G. Komen Foundation is my main charity since I am a two time Breast Cancer Survivor. I also belong to Chemo Angels. Chemo Angels send a card every week to a person who is undergoing chemotherapy to cheer them and offer support.

Favorite Music

Country Music is my hands down favorite but I like everything except hard jazz. I also like talk radio. XM radio has channel 164, Old Time Radio, and it is great.

Favorite TV Shows

Deadliest Catch, Discovery Channel, A&E, Mega Movers, Project Runway to name a few. I really like old movies from the 40's.

Favorite Movies

Gaslight, Gone with the Wind, Tora Tora Tora, Phantom of the Opera, any Harry Potter movie, Pirates of the Caribbean (all three), Field of Dreams, Cars, Memoirs of a Ghesia....and the list goes on and on.

Favorite Books

Elizabethian History, any Stephen King, Mysteries, Courtroom Dramas, Harry Potter. It's hard to name specific books. I read everything.

Favorite People

My daughter Amanda, Condi Rice, Jackie Kennedy, the hero's of 9-11, all the women who have battled breast cancer so courageously, my best friend Connie, Vicki and Jenny at my Oncologist's office who always have time to listen, help and laugh with me.

Favorite Places

So many! Mackinac Island, Michigan really is Somewhere in Time. So peaceful and beautiful. Mexico is fantastic, another way of life. Montery and Napa Valley California.

Favorite Animals

All animals have their charm. Well most of them do. Except for the raccoons that keep finding their way into the attic. My favoite animal is my rescue Airedale, Maggie. She came to us last year, eight years old, scared, shy and with no information about her former life. She has bloomed into a great companion and is a natural clown. Sadly, we had to put Maggie down a few months ago after a courageous battle with kidney failure. I always adopt older rescue Airedales. They want a family and someone to love them as much as the puppies do.
