Places I've been
My senior year in high school was spent in Davao City, Philippines as an AFS exchange student. That year was when Marcos declared martial law, so it was a very interesting year for a naive (but outspoken) midwestern girl to live where there was suddenly no freedom of speech, curfews, and armed troops in the streets. I was a flight attendant from 1980-1997, so was able to see much of the U.S. as well as Canada & Mexico. In 1981-82 I guided tours in Paris for airline employees during my vacation time. In 2003 my husband & I took the "vacation of a lifetime", exploring France for four months, beginning with a month at an immersion language school (see my blog for details). In 2004, I began my own company, West Wind Tours, LLC. (www.westwindtours.us). We offer tours for groups of 4-6 adults to the Bordeaux wine region and Dordogne Valley of SW. France, staying in beautiful B&B's.

More about me

My husband and I (along with a dog & cats) live in south central Montana in a log home primarily powered by solar & wind. Vegetable and flower gardens, as well as hiking keep me busy in the Summer, skiing in Winter.

In Spring & Fall I take small groups of adults to SW France to drink wine & explore medieval & prehistoric sites. I set up all the ground portion of the trip and act as guide, while my husband is our chauffeur. We have alot of fun & have made some great friends both of clients and the owners of the B&B's we use on our tours.

  • Hope the next one you encounter won't be in your vegetable garden. Glad things turned out okay - you're one brave lady!

  • Hi Diane,
I just read your post about your parents discovering each other again after so many years. It reminded me of what I always tell my children about marriage and love. Love is a verb. It doesn't just happen, you have to do things together to make it grow. Otherwise it dies on the vine. They may have loved each other when they were young but when the problems of raising a family came along, that took over and their love for each other flew out the window. My husband and I have been married for 44 years and a few years ago marriage grew ho hum. Fortunately we decided to do something about it and found something we both enjoyed doing and started over. Traveling and camping (RV not tents) was our discovery. He likes to get out away from the city and "rough it". :)
I was so touched by your story. Thanks.
