I was raised as an “Air Force Brat”; growing up in Spokane, WA; Japan; Washington DC; and Springfield, MA. In the early 60’s, after high School (Tech HS), I enlisted in the Army; enjoyed two tours of duty in Germany and one interesting tour in Vietnam. By the end of the decade I figured out I was not ready for an Army career and a more formal education was more appealing then it had appeared to be after high school. In the early 70’s I attended U. Mass, married, and relocated to Northern Virginia. By the end of the 70’s I was working for the Navy (as a civilian) where I spent the next 26 years.
Now 26 years with a single employer sounds boring. But, during this time I enjoyed four distinct careers: developed management tools for facilities maintenance programs, served as the Management Officer at PWC Guam, was the project manager for a PWD automated management system, and finished in 2004 as the Navy’s base closure caretaker czar.
After a post civil service two-year period, working for a “beltway bandit”, I am fully retired and enjoying it! I am now the master of my time (but don’t tell that to my wife). We have been married for 35" years and have two grown children.

I have rekindled my interest in photography and genealogy. From time to time I can be found in the garage creating sawdust as try my hand at various woodworking projects; and, if not quick enough, roped into one of my wife’s gardening projects. And for intellectual pursuits, we both enjoy attending OLLI classes at George Mason University.
