I was born in St. Paul, MN, at Miller Hospital (Anybody out there remember that hospital?), but moved 30 miles north to Stacy, MN, when I was 4 years old. There I learned to love the freedom of living on an 80 acre hobby farm, with woods to wander, and my imagination to guide me as I grew up.

My I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of MN, Duluth, in English education, and after teaching for years, decided to take on the challenge of completing a Master's degree in counseling. Just as I completed the degree, a position opened in the counseling department where I worked, and I made the switch. I absolutely love my job! I stay young by spending time each day with teenagers and their lifestyles, problems, and opportunities.

Who is the most interesting person you have ever met?

Dr. Richard Reusch--he was in his 80s and a minister in the town I grew up in. He was forced to leave Russia during the Communist takeover, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro over a dozen times, had been a missionary in Africa--among other things. He was small in stature, under 5 feet tall, but had a large and glowing history and personality. My regret is that I didn't take a summer off when I was in college to write his biography.
