More about me

I find this time in my life to be very exciting, a time to learn and try new things.  I enjoy simplicity.  I find the finer things in life are free...sunshine, the sounds of nature, a conversation with my son or daughter, a thank you from a stranger (or friend) I was able to help along the way, music, dancing in my living room.  I believe each day presents us with miracles.  We're often too busy with life to experience them so I'm working on slowing down, staying in the moment.  Being able to laugh at life is a gift received from my Mom.  I practice it every day.  I believe black clouds have silver linings.

Activities

I try to start each day with Yoga, not extreme, just passive stretching. I love to read. Reading introduces me to new ideas, new ways of thinking about something that may have been a constant in my life for many years. I am learning that I really enjoy water activities. I've just tried white water rafting and kayaking. I will be fly fishing for the first time in the Pocono's in the fall.(Did it...loved it!) I enjoy cooking and baking. I do more of both during the winter months. I love music. It's fascinating that a song can bring back a memory of a time so long ago or it can change my mood by the end of a verse. I love to dig in the dirt. By winter's end I am so ready to get outside to plant. I would like to be able to travel more. There's so much to see, a lifetime is too short.

Images and Photos"> Susan G. Komen for the Cure (specifically the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day. I've participated in '05 and '06 and plan on participating in '09). The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Favorite Music

Images and Photos"> I love music in general. I grew up with the big bands playing in my home every Sunday. My Dad had a wonderful collection. I enjoy classical, New Age, Jazz, anything by Sting... my radio in the car is set to the Classic Vinal station.

Favorite TV Shows

I typically don't watch network TV. I watch a little Food Network and reruns of Law and Order.

Favorite Movies

Something's Gotta Give ( I love that his soulmate is someone in his own age group), Under the Tuscan Sun (Tuscany is on my places to visit list), The Graduate (I had my kids watch it when they were old enough and it's now one of their favorites), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Paul Newman has always been one of my favorite actors and he seemed like one heck of a nice guy), Breakfast at Tiffiany's (who doesn't love Audrey Hepburn), Moonstruck ("I ain't no freakin' monument to justice..."), The Bucket List (don't we all have that Bucket List in our heads) and most Johnny Depp movies (his roles just always surprise me).

Favorite Books

I have a pile yet to read but some of my all time favorites include The Sacred Romance, Many Lives, Many Masters, Faith...Trusting Your Own Deepest Experience, Love Poems from God, Sting...broken music.

Favorite People

My kids, I've always called them my young sages. So intuitive for such young beings. My parents...we often don't appreciate the people they were until they are gone from our lives. Anyone with love and tenderness in their hearts.

Favorite Places

My home...it is my safe-haven, the ocean-side, sitting along running water or on top of a mountain, riding to a destination in my car, NYC and Philadelphia, what wonderful history and energy.

Favorite Animals

Animals are all fascinating and such beautiful creatures. My family pets, two pappilons and a stray cat know me so well. Their loyality is a lesson.
