More about me

I'm single, have been for years.  I have two sons and two grandkids, boy and girl.  One son is married (the kids dad) and one is single, but has a girlfriend and someday they'll get married, I hope, LOL.  I worked for a government agency for almost 25 years and I'm retired now, have been for 8 years.

I've lived in the mountains here for 8 years and love it.  My favorite place is on the coast, around Monterey and I love to visit San Diego and San Francisco too.  I've always loved merry go rounds and enjoy going to Disneyland.  Have two casinos near me, but I'm not much of a gambler, LOL, I can spend the whole evening on the penny slots, and on a big night might try the nickel ones when I can find them.  Really don't go to the casinos much. 

I have my own message board, run it along with a good friend, TnShylady (she's on this board too).  It's MOUNTAIN BUZZARD'S ROOST, at  http://mountainbuzzard.proboards.com and we've had a lot of fun with it, always looking for new members.

I do a lot of crafting since I don't work anymore, have taught myself (and still learning) woodburning, some painting, making greeting cards.  Always looking for new things to learn.  I like to sew, love to cook and try new recipes.  My youngest son recently gave me a digital camera and I can't wait for the weather to get better to get out and take more pictures with it.  I live 14 miles from Yosemite National Park and am pretty much centrally located in California. 

 My favorite holiday is Halloween and I love to dress up.  Last year I got to work in my very first Haunted House for the local Lion's Club and had an absolute ball!  I'll be doing it again this year and continue to do it till they toss me out on my broom!  I'm dressed up as a witch and get to scare people as they come in or leave my room in the house.  I had so much fun that now my youngest son and his girlfriend want to help out too this year, LOL.  I enjoy Christmas and the other holidays, but not as much as Halloween.

 I spend a lot of my time now crafting, reading, watching movies and TV.  This summer I hope to be able to learn more about gardening.  Going to plant herbs and flowers and maybe some cukes, tomatoes and summer squash.  I only have a small patio garden area, so will be experimenting with containers for the veggies.

I enjoy Chinese food and treat myself to lunch at a local restaurant  up here once or twice a month.  The hardest thing I've adjusted to is learning to not cook enough for an army, LOL. 

I'm afraid of snakes, spiders and thunderstorms, yep, even a tough old buzzard can be afraid of things, LOL.

 

Activities

I love to read, mostly crime type novels, movies, all kinds, sewing, crafting (I do a lot of woodburning and make my own greeting cards), and am trying to learn about gardening. (I kill lots of plants, but raise GREAT weeds!). I play bingo once a month at the Lions Club local game, and I love animals, have a cat right now and am looking for a small dog. I spend a lot of time on the computer (my family says too much time, LOL) and I love cooking and trivia also. I also like Native American objects and jewelry, and reading about them too. I also have small collections of horse figurines and music boxes. I enjoy jigsaw puzzles and computer games, especially the hidden object puzzles.

Country and western, Doo Wop, Celtic, Native American and classical, music from old musicals, really just about anything except hard rock and rap of today.

Favorite TV Shows

Don't have TV right now, but used to watch things like Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, LOST, The Closer, Monk, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, Hell's Kitchen, The Unit, and way to many others to list. I miss the old westerns and variety shows like Carol Burnett and Red Skelton.We can only get satellite or cable where I live and I'll be getting cable hooked back up in the next couple of months.

Favorite Movies

Shenandoah, Hidalgo, Seabiscuit, Saving Private Ryan, Ghost Rider, Oklahoma, King and I, Jackie Chan movies, Whoopie Goldbery and Queen Latifah and so many others.

Favorite Books

Just anything but autobiographies. My favorite writers are Patricia Cornwell, Joseph Wambaugh, James Patterson, David Baldacci and several others. I also enjoy reading the old classics, and "revisiting" the stories I read growing up, like Tom Sawyer, Five Little Peppers and How They Grew and others.
