More about me

This part is never easy but I will see what I can do. My real name is Patty and I am 52 years old, divorced and free to love everybody :-) (Meaning I am no longer married to a control freak - Yippie!)

I have COPD (Chronic Pulmonary Obstructied Disease) and for now I am living in a nursing home. They put me in here 18 months ago after a stay in the hospital. I am pretty sure they basically figured I was going to die but I did fool them.

I recovered and now that I am no longer smoking cigarettes (7 1/2 months free!) I am getting stronger and stronger. Next I am going to get some dentures and stay here to be taken care of. I had thought about moving on my own but the humidity in the summer makes it almost impossible to maintain my independence. Fooey!

The people here are amazing. I love each and everyone of them. They are my friends, they take care of me and honestly love me in return. They have mended me physically and mentally. I will forever be in their debt.

Even though I am much better I will never be fully recovered. Along with COPD you usually have Chronic Bronchitis and/or Emphsema. I have both. My lungs are healing though! When I arrived here I was using 1/3 of my lungs. After just seven short months of smoke free living we can hear air all the way down in the bottom of my pipes.

I have spent most of my life in Colorado and that is where my heart will always be. I happen to be in Wisconsin... which is a wonderful state... but just not the state I am part of. I hope to move there in the future.

I have 2 sons who live here in WI close by me and a daughter, grandson, soon to be son(-in-law) and a new grandbaby on the way in Greeley CO.

I love God and I am becoming closer to him. I love life and people and 98% of the time I am a happy camper. I love to laugh and I love to make others laugh too! I was Mom The Fixer but am slowly handing that title over to God and my daughter. It is her time to shine. My time to retire...

Well retire from fixing everything... I just got a new job as an Independent Watkins Sales Associate and I am on Cloud 9 doing that! More ways to meet and make friends.

And that about sums me up. I have been on the Internet almost since Al Gore invented it. (smile) At least the last 12 years any way. This is one of the nicest places I have landed. Honey! I'm home!

Favorite TV Shows

I live for Grey's Anatomy! I also enjoy NCIS, The Unit, Cane, and Friday Night Lights among others.

Favorite Music

I pretty much love all kind of music except for opera. I listen to old country and old rock and roll mostly.

Activities

I have fished but not too much success. I would rather sit and feed the baby ones toast crumbs. I have never learned to sew because in home-ec we played 'snow mobile' with the sewing machines (fun noise). I do love to read and I can crochet. At one time I was very active building personal web sites but have given it up for a bit.

Favorite Movies

I have a hard time sitting down to watch a movie. I like Julia Roberts. Sandra Bullock, John Travolta, Tom Hanks, and many more.

Favorite Books

Before computers I walked around with a book in my hand at all times. I have read thousands. May not remember them all but I read em'! LOL!! I like Nora Roberts and right now I am reading Robin Cook. I love mystery, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, love stories (we can pretend can't we?) and pretty much what I get my hands on. I do not like science fiction.
