In his career, he worked for NASA, AC Spark Plug, and GE. In his obit he's was a member of that "Greatest Generation", who said what they meant, meant what they said, and never made excuses." That was him to a tea, and I was proud to say he instilled the same in me. Best friend I never had!!! And somewhat a father image to a young man in his early 20's. The photo above reminds me of him!

    About Me

    Welcome to My Profile!

Hi, my name is Mike. Welcome everyone, enjoy the monkeys! I have two groups called "Vision" for members with various types of vision/eye problems, and "Sleep Apnea and Insomnia" for those with sleeping disorders. Join my "Life of Reilly" group for some fun; recently started the "Vacation and Trip Horror Stories", "Guinness Ale" and "Irish Whiskey" groups.

I love Celtic, New Age, and romantic soft pop, rock & roll; music that stirs and moves not only my heart but mind with its beat and rhythm. My Auto Playlist has 100 songs; two others have nearly 175. Please enjoy.

I have other of interests that I dable in: history, genealogy, collecting and writing about Schlitz Brewery, antique advertising tins (in particular potato chip tins, hence the name Chiptin), & sci-fi & fantasy).

I started working as a Market America Distributor in August '06, so while I'm on Eons, I'm also processing retail orders or working on business promotion on the internet (NOT on Eons!).

I just retired May 2nd after 36 years for GE. Now I can start my life over, and try figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I thought about educator or counselor? Hopefully a lot of years to figure it all out.

Go and Invite Me as A Friend (I don't bite!)

I borrowed the following from my good friend Dianna38; while I feel it holds true for me as well, I did modify Dianna's ending statements:

The price of friendship, If you want to know something about me, without asking any questions, study my friends.

The people with whom I choose to spend my free time, with whom I eat and laugh and cry - these people are the mirrors of my soul. It's true: you really can tell a lot about a person by the company he keeps...

Now, if you choose friends the way I choose friends, there is no pattern or logic to it. I have friends who are extremely wealthy, and friends who are desperately short on cash.

I have friends who do not vote for the political candidates I prefer, and friends who can finish my sentences, if I pause to take a breath.

Friendships are made, not born. We are all born into a family, but we grow into friendships.
Members of your family may be your best friends.

But if they are, I suspect it's more a matter of spirit than of blood.

Sometimes we lose touch with friends. We move away.
We change jobs. Our lives take unexpected turns. Yet there is one friendship upon which every one of us may depend. It is a friendship available to you when you call upon it:

That person's name is YOUR OWN!!!

This is the first time Enya ever performed fully on a song. It's with the band Clannad, from the 1981 album 'Fuaim'. 'An tÚll' is Gaelic for 'the apple'. Lyrics in English: I have a new story to tell you It's good crack and chat over drink A fine lovely apple I put in my pocket And all I found was a seed potato Chorus: Oh sadly my eyes cry After that fine yellow apple And the lovely young woman who gave it to me And I'd give a pound to taste it again I walked Clare Island and Carrig Aonor The bays of Béara Island were before me on the way Puinte na nGréige and Dorsaí Maola The raven and the calf outside of Baoi (Chorus) I walked through Cualach because I was sad The northern parish and Eyeries On the Island of Muarseadh a young man told me That I wouldn't get word of her until I'd tie the knot (Chorus) I walked through Cobh and Baile na Mona Cathar Tún Tóime and Sherkin Is On the east coast someone told me That it was the laughing stock of Néidín

The man you see singing in this video is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole or simply "IZ"; I understand he was a really amazing person, thousands mourned his death at age 38 in 1997. He was a big man in more than just one way; and his music bears witness to his life. I wish you all could see beyond his size to determine the measure of this man.
