Having grown up during the Depression years in N.C., I was forced to face reality early in life.  So my approach has always been: "So this is how it is and what am I going to do about it?"  In figuring out what to do, I learned to be decisive.  If I made a wrong decision, I have no problem admitting it, and just make another one.

Along the way I developed a trait that is called being opinionated.  I do not deny that I am opinionated and am more than willing to share my opinions when asked, and unfortunately, sometimes when not asked.

 Perhaps due to a deprived childhood, I long ago decided that life is about people more than about material things.  At the same time, I like comfort, pleasures and peaceful surroundings.

I have been blessed with many friends along the way.  Realizing that friendship is a two way street, I nurture friendships as I consider them to be some of life's greatest treasures.

My greatest accomplishment has been a marriage of 59 years and four children that I call my "rocks of Gibraltar".

One of my life long dreams had been to go to college and at the age of 43, enrolled in a local junior college.  While taking care of my family and nursing 40 hours a week, I attended classes in the evening and earned an Associate in Arts degree.

Activities

Lost my husband of 60 years to Alzheimer's disease in Feb.2008. Trying to get re-focused and do something constructive with the remainder of my life. Am writing a book of memories to leave for our children.
