I was born in Key West, FL because my Dad was in the Navy, but left there as a toddler and was raised in Richmond, VA. Graduated school and businesss college there and married twice. First one ended in divorce. The second one ended in death. Both are bad, but death is worse. My husband was a hotel General Manager so we traveled around a lot. We transferred to Tampa, FL in 1989 with Marriott and we lived in Palm Harbor, FL. My daughter went all through high school there. After 4 years we transferred to Princeton, NJ for 4 years and then Wilmington, DE for a year and half. We ended up back in FL because of my daughter still being there. Richmond is still home though. I have 10 girls there that have been friends since grade school. We are all still very close and I'm the only one ot leave the roost. We call ourselves the Yaya's. I rent a house in the Keys twice a year. I LOVE it. I travel for business now, too, so I've been to a lot of places. The only place outside the US I've been is Mexico and Bahamas, but traveled a lot of the other 50 states and have relatives all over. I love to travel, love the beach, but also adore the city life of a lot of places especially NYC. I'm very flexible. Love to have fun and be silly and sensuous and funny at the same time. I'm learing how to act again after being a caretaker for my best friend and soul mate for 9 months. Prior to that he and I were on the same page. We both liked to dance, travel and have fun, but our pride and joy was a little 3 year old grandson who had us wrapped around our finger. Now, I have to be both of us to him. I'm strong, spritual (but not religious), positive, try to create my own reality and remember how powerful thoughts can be. I WILL SURVIVE!

I live in the Clearwater Beach area, but am originally from Richmond, VA. I'm a widow with one grown daughter and 2 beautiful grandchildren. That 3 year old is not almost 6 and I have 2 year old granddaughter that was born 4 months after Joe passed. She's named after him and we're pretty sure he saw her before we did. They are probably my only reason for still staying in this area. At the moment, I'm in Social Work, which I've been doing for the past 10 years, but on the verge of starting a new business in the hotel industry. I love the beach, bike riding, traveling, dancing, music, outdoor events, reading a good book and having fun! Laughter is very important and I love kidding around. Age is just a number to me. How old is your "energy" is the key question. I love people and am definitely a people person.
The last 30 months have been a roller coaster ride as I lost my husband of 23 years to cancer after taking care of him for 9 months. We had a good life and always had fun together. I'm trying hard to make it each day and I have, but some days are tough when a part of you is missing. I'm starting over and I'm staying positive. I do believe attitude is important and I will find my way in time. I've already started even though I had to kiss a big toad first. LOL!
UPDATE: The grandchildren have now grown to a total of 3. Ages 6, 3 and 3 months as of today (4/24/10). Lots has happened since I originally wrote this in 2007. I moved into my own place in Dunedin for over a year and loved it. I had a little scare in August 2009 that made me realize I wanted to return home (Richmond) after 21 years in Florida. How many times do we have get hit over the head to take notice? LOL! I have such a strong friend base here. I moved back the end of February 2010. I'm delighted to be "home" again, but miss my kids and Florida will always be another "home", too. So, I'm hoping to travel back and forth when I can. I've started a new life in VA and hope to go back to work again soon. I've moved forward as Joe would have wanted me to do and tucked him someplace special in my heart and will never forget him or our memories. I've found a new love in my life and we are old school mates. I'm very excited about the future and never thought I'd have this to look forward to again. We never know what road life will lead us down, but I know it all happens for a reason.

I was a dancer for over 20 years. Always wanted to do something with that, but never did. Would love to take ballroom classes now especially after watching "Dancing With the Stars." Love to dance! Love the beach, traveling, reading a good book on a rainy day and decorating. Oh, how could I forget shopping. I'm a shoe freak as I've been told. But hey, I look for the bargains!
