I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana.

Places I've been

I lived the first 22 years of my life in Southern Indiana, then moved to my current location in South Central Kentucky. My favorite places to vacation are the Gulf Coast of Florida; Gatlinburg, TN; Mackinac Island MI, Jekyll Island GA, and Nashville/Brown County, IN. I have also been to Niagra Falls, Grand Canyon, Washington DC, Savannah GA, Helen GA, and visited briefly in Alabama, West Va, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York state, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio. I hope to visit all the states before I die.

More about me

I work in Accounting, doing the billing for a Construction company and have been at this job for nearly 17 years.  In the past, at other jobs, I have worked in various bookkeeping and secretarial positions.  I even worked on the switchboard at a hospital for awhile - probably my least-favorite job that I've had.

In my spare time, I like to work on my Scrapbooks/Photo Albums. I love to listen to music, and have quite a record collection (yes, vinyl LP's and 45's), in addition to more recent music.  I currently watch too much evening TV, mostly because I don't have the energy to do anything else after working all day and cooking supper.  I also enjoy reading, but have to make myself put a book down if it's a good one! 

I have a calico cat named Molly, who is the sweetest cat I have ever had.  She sleeps against me every night  and gets in my lap if she catches me sitting down, and follows me from room to room.  Last Fall I adopted a dog from our local shelter, and his name is Jasper.  He is about two years old, has pretty long, red hair and little pointed ears.  He is a "clinger" - doesn't want me out of his sight!

I enjoy going places but don't get to do as much as I used to because my 85-year old diabetic mother and I share a home and she requires a lot of attention. I get together several times a year with some of my friends that have been friends since we started first grade together.  We girls (usually five or six of us) celebrate our birthdays together in the Spring and get together in the Fall for an early Christmas meal and gift exchange.

Since I attended a small school and live only two hours away from my hometown, our classmates can get together every year.  In even-numbered years, our school has an alumni reunion for everyone who ever attended there.  In the odd-numbered years, our class gets together for a reunion for just our classmates.

I have never been married or had children.  In addition to caring for my elderly mother, my only brother is in a nursing home near our hometown because of a severe stroke suffered about five years ago and I try to visit him at least every other weekend.

I enjoy people and learning all about them.
