Places I've been

I got married when I was 16, but finished high school in Ft Worth, Texas. Then around the same time, both my husband and I were laid off. So we decided it was a good time to move to Austin, Texas; where he was born and raised. I have never moved away from Austin; it is MY hometown now; especially South Austin, where we are still keeping it "weird". I have been able through vacations and business travel to have seen some parts of every State in the USA on the mainland, plus some places in Mexico and Canada. Some day, I want to go on a cruise to Alaska and also to Scotland, Ireland and Wales, where my family from both sides originated from.

Favorite Music

This will be added to as I think of them; but anything from Fleetwood Mac, Three Dog Night, Credence Clearwater Revival, Moody Blues to Merle Haggard, Don Anderson, George Strait, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, plus [new CW people] to Barry White, Al Green, Luther VanDross, Erin Neville to Dave Matthews Band, Norah Jones, Tori Amos, Sara MacLaughlin, Bonnie Raitt, .... to Ray Lynch, Celtic Women, New Age Music to Chris Botti and many, many more...I love music!!

Activities

Anything that has to do with water activities; dancing; traveling; camping; being outdoors; reading; crossword puzzles; word games; road trips {short or long}; listening to "live" music and more.

Favorite Charities

Any Baby Can {helps chronically/terminally ill children who fall through the cracks from other agencies and just plain need all kinds of help}; SafePlace, Habitats for Humanity; Meals on Wheels; Crisis Hotline and any activity which helps the elderly or shutins.

Favorite Places

Mountains set my heart free; clouds move me; water soothes me; forests comfort me; rain makes me sleepy; snow makes me playful and warm fires make me peaceful and content. Pick a place. I enjoy almost everyplace I go.

Favorite Animals

Kiki, my cat is my favorite. She always takes care of me when I am sick or down. I love to hear her purr or sing or "talks" in her sleep. I love all felines; love to watch them, their eyes, see how they move. I was born the year of the Tiger, so it comes naturally. I also love watching whales and dolphins; especially when they play or talk. I love to watch the big gorillas in their natural habitat. I love wolves and breeds of dogs mixed with wolf. I love horses and would like to be able to ride more often. I love all birds, especially songbirds.. for the total pleasure they take in singing to the world and sharing their songs with us. Also I love watching small aquarium fish like the Betas, Tetras, tiny Sharks, ghost shrimp and mini catfish and butterflies.

Favorite Movies

For Classic movies: Splender in the Grass, Summer Place, Love with the Proper Stranger {these helped me understand human foibles as a teenager}, plus any old movies with Cary Grant, Kathryn Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Glen Ford, Gary Cooper, Gregory Peck, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman or Joanne Woodward in them; all of Elizabeth Taylor's old ones; especially Cat on Hot Tin Roof, plus old movies with Joan Crawford and Betty Davis were good too. I have too many that I love that are current ones, but enjoy thrillers, romance, comedy and really good ones that have all three.

Original CSI; History Channel, Discovery and National Geographic; Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Deal or No Deal; reruns of Buffie the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Felicity, LeFemme Nikita and Alias.

Favorite People

My favorite people are those who have a positive attitude and are happy; the people who readily treat others with kindness, patience and consideration. My favorite people are eager to "pitch in" when the need arises and doesn't worry about being thanked or shown recognition. These are the people who are helping or sharing because they want to and not for any other reason. My favorite people are those who love to laugh or at least share a smile. When something goes wrong; my favorite people don't waste time looking for blame, they are too busy looking for solutions.
