About me
I am a single, Canadian woman living in Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, Canada. I was born in Victoria, the youngest of 3 children in a not-so-happy family. Having grown up mostly during the 60's I was a hippy. After high school I married my husband and we had two children. I smoked pot before and during my marriage . I don't know if that has anything to do with my developing Fibromyalgia, but it covered my low self-esteem issues, I called it "instant personality."
When I left my husband I started a new life ~ very open, honest and truthful. I welcomed people into my home only if they were no longer involved with drugs. I studied how to become a good parent through counceling and reading. I began my journey inward to learn about who I was.
I first developed symptoms of Fibromyalgia in 1984 and soon became too sick to work, my marriage failed, and I lost my house. The worst year of my entire life, but also a turning point.
In 1986 I went to College for 1 1/2 years to become a secretary. After graduation I went to work for our provincial government. After several years, I got a job in mental health and enjoyed it.I learned a lot about myself and others.
By 1999, the Fibromyalgia caught up with me, and I was forced to stop working. I had problems learning, I had to write everything down in order to remember it. It made it too difficult to do my job any longer. I had crippling fatigue, extreme pain all over my body, depression, all symptoms of Fibromyalgia. With the medication that I am now on, most of my symptoms are now under control.
Now I live on a disability pension. Financially I can't complain too much. There is a very nice roof over my head, the bills get paid, and I can eat.Recently I decided that I am going to leave Victoria for another area of BC. I haven't completely decided where, I am "in the process."
I'm hoping to travel because I want to see the world. There are many areas that are beautiful and you can meet many friendly people.
Eons has really been a God send to me, because I now have people to talk to who understand what it is like to live with this disease. With my health being so poor, getting out to meet new people is very difficult. I want to thank all of you.
