Cleveland (Hometown), My first trip abroad was to Greece (OMG!) with my then, five year old daughter. I was divorced and let me tell you the Greek men were awesome! We experienced Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Delos, and others places. Greece was an absolutely warm and hospitable country. Next my daughter and I visited Mainland China. We were there four years before the incident in Tiananmen Square (1989) and travelled to about 5 cities. Until you go there you really do not have a concept of how many Chinese people there are. Oceans of bicycles. Oceans of people. We finished our trip in Hong Kong! Yeah Baby! Fantastic. I rented an apartment in Paris for me and my daughter. We then travelled to the south of France to Nice and Monaco. We started in London, take a ferry from Dover to Calais and the train to Nice and then back to Paris. Big Fun! I, my husband and daughter visited my inlaws in Cairo, Egypt. An incredible place with stark contrasts. There would be a young Arab guy in a huge Mercedes with black tinted windows blasting rap music. Next to him would be a broken down donkey drawn cart. I dressed the part; covered my head and wore a long dress. At that time the fundamentalists were shooting Americans. My sister-in-law did all of the talking for me, people there thought I was from Liberia. I did an independent study in Italy...without my daughter! I wanted her there. Italy was wonderful. Beautiful men although I was married...but not blind! Naples, Sorrento, Florence, Venice, Rome, and tours of the countryside. Bella! Visted my inlaws in London with my son. Loved London and Paris again. Not too crazy about my inlaws. Took the fairly new tunnel train. Excellent! I love New York and Los Angeles. Would love to live in San Francisco and Hawaii. New York is a city that I immediately plug into when I get there. The energy and creativity is incredible and welcoming! I feel like I'm with my people when I'm there. Would love to live in Brooklyn or Manhatten. Many, many more places but that's enough for now.
