Who are your heroes?

Madeleine L'Engle. She had a huge impact on my life. Everyone else I can think of pales next to her. Other authors, pro football players, law enforcement/fire department personell come close. I met Marty Shotenheimer, then coach of the San Diego Chargers. He was signing autographs, and stopped everything to make sure two young boys who were climbing on a fence were safe. "I have grandchildren of my own," he said. That made him a hero in my eyes.
