More about me

I have been a fulltime caregiver for my mom for about 4 years now.  My husband and I have lived with her since Nov of 2005 after we lost our home to a fire.

Mom is over 95 now and in the last stages of dementia, she is total care.  We arranged for hospice help in the spring when the changes were coming to fast for me and I needed support.

My husband and I have been married for 25 years.  We have a 24 year old son, Aaron, who is a Corrections Officer, he as 3 boys.  I have 3 other sons from my first marriage, 41, 34 and 30.  The oldest, David, is retired from the army and has 1 son, the second, Dion, spent 10 years in the army and has 2 daughters and 1 son, and the third, Daniel is currently in the army and about to get married Dec 5!

It is quite an undertaking to establish a careteam to watch over mom when we go out of town, so it only happens once a year!

Favorite Music

Very diversified when it comes to music, country, soft rock, jaz, blues, opera, contemporary Christian, 50's, Beatles, BeeGees and much more.

Activities

My activities have been limited since I have been a caregiver. I recently completed 2 years of online college. I am able to go to church every other Sunday, I have choir each week, and when I have a mom sitter, I get to go walk at the mall! I love photography, cooking, interior and floral design, being with my grandkids, collecting journals, writing about my experiences as a caregiver...http://bearhugwaltz.blogspot.com
