Greenaway, Director, 14th June 2009)

David Greenaway has lived on houseboats most of his life.

With a Mensa verified I.Q of 157,

He has been a teacher,

Designed and project-managed a major European funded Computer system

Run various IT companies. Supplied networked systems for the Midland Police Force Personally installed  network systems  units for the Sales Director of Lloyds TSB while contracted by IBM to Lloyds TSB.

David Greenaway was trained as a Business Analyst By I.C.M.C. specifically for analysing the business AND personal problems facing Chief Executive Officer’s of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Using a business model that recognises the inextricable relationship between the business and personal life of such individuals.

That includes personal interview techniques that were developed by a French Psychologist for this purpose.

And integrates the whole Business operation with a unique and powerful System and Method.

He went on to join the DTJ Group using the same Business Model and techniques.

Eventually being asked to run the Analysis Department.

When he found the boat of his dreams he tried early retirement to spend more time, but was unable to remain so inactive for long.

He had already owned and converted over a dozen Houseboats and “Residential Cruisers” (a copyrighted phrase he invented while searching for the right name for what became “The Association of Residential Cruisers…A.R.C.)

He decided to focus on perfecting the perfect Residential Cruiser buying and selling various boats along the way. His searches brought him to The Medway, where local houseboat owners were amazed at how rapidly he was able to sell houseboats, (using his own unique internet-based system and method) when their own houseboats were taking years to sell. Having looked at one such boat, David told said, it is now worth more than when it was valued two years ago, two weeks later he placed a cheque in the man’s hand for the new higher asking price, after which many came from all around for such help, and so the Marine Brokerage activity was born.

David rarely refers to “The Old Boy Network”, but his contemporaries at school included actor Nicholas Le Prevost, Alan (now Lord) Watson, Richard Cork, the leading art authority and Tim Curry.

David (having been coached in public speaking by Alan Watson) went on to do well in the theatrical presentations at a School with an enviable dramatic tradition.

Subsequently studying drama at Southlands, Wimbledon, he was eventually the Male lead in the winning production of the London Youth Theatre and considered a career in acting. He was privileged to work with some of his boyhood heroes and heroines but concluded that the emotional and psychological pressures of the theatrical set were likely to disrupt his personal life and happiness.

As a boy he had read avidly, especially philosophy including ancient Indian writings, Plato  and the Rosicrucians, his hero was Da Vinci who symbolised the “complete man “ adept in BOTH Arts AND SCIENCES unusually he was accepted into the Rosicrucian Order at the young age of seventeen and began a lifetime study and practice of some of  the ancient teachings while continuing to be “a walking question mark”. Some of these, echoed by the “New Thought Movement”  of the early twentieth century, have lately been brought into the public domain by the film “The Secret”

David has a reputation for helping “undeserving” people with time and or money and those close to him often say “we told you so” when those he helped betray him, but still he continues in this way, believing that is when he meets someone who really needs help that he can give, that he should do so. In spite of temporary anger and distress, he continues to forgive and bless all of them on a daily basis.

Some say the name Greenaway comes from the Saxon green ad weg , meaning Grassy Road, but David prefers the interpretation of his Woodwork teacher at school “Grinaway”, certainly three generations of Greenaway men have the same ready smile.

Over the years, hundreds have travelled to the now famous “interviews” at The Houseboat Centre, to talk about their hopes and dreams and learn about living on boats, these interviews and the whole method and system used, combined with David’s philosophical understanding, combine to produce such an effect that is commonly said locally “Lives are changed in those chairs”……
