- More about me
-
I've been married to my beautiful wife for 40 years! We have three grown children and seven grandchildren. I'm a retired traffic engineer, and I now tutor mostly math, from third grade (my youngest) through college, including adults my own age.
I've been a blues/rock guitarist for more than 50 years, often playing professionally. I have played with many of the most famous blues/rock musicians of my lifetime, many of them "back in the day," before they became famous. I have thought about and discussed doing another Masters degree, this time in music or history, or a combination, so that I could study and research "The Crossroads" mythology in Blues folklore.
I have won awards and been published in national engineering journals.
I'm a Vietnam vet, serving with an airborne ranger company, hence my screen name "oldrangerdude."
I was a youth minister for more than 25 years, and led yearly and twice yearly youth retreats.
About three years ago I suffered a broken back - a compression fracture at T-7 vertebra. From that experience I learned that I had severe osteoporosis, and I lost 1.5 inches in height. Less than three months after the broken back, I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, resulting in aphasia. Since that stroke, I can no longer read for pleasure, and I have lost all interest in playing guitar. Crappy deal.
