I'm the author of The Fiction Class, which was my first published book, though not the first one I wrote. TFC is autobiographical in the sense that it's about a woman's difficult relationship with her mother, and yet it's a complete fantasy because the woman is 38 years old and single, and I'm 52 and a wife and mother. The combination of fact and fantasy made it both fun and painful to write. Or vice versa. I'm also the author of a number of short stories, which have been published by various literary magazines, and I write articles for The Writer and Writer's Digest. And I'm delighted to be at this site.
