For the past 12 years, I have worked in a program for adults with developmental disabilitites. I also have two grown children that I am extremely proud of!
I am also Red Cross, giving disaster preparedness presentations to groups, teaching others how to be better prepared for the disasters that can strike our area. I teach CPR/AED and First Aid, and with my Disaster Action Team (DAT) go to local disasters, such as house fires, to canteen the firefighters and to start the family affected on the road to recovery.
I'm also on the local Disaster Services Human Resources Team (DSHR) going to local, national disasters, such as the Missouri flooding and local tornadoes. Because of my other committments, I can't go to the large national disasters elsewhere, such as Katrina and Ike, but I sure salute those who do!
It is my devout wish that every American would learn to prepared for the KNOWN disasters that could affect their area, and make a 72-hour kit for themselves and their family.
Visit the 'Disaster Preparedness' group on Eons, for lots of information. Find quick, easy and many inexpensive tips to safeguard your family.
I also belong to a group that matches our military serving overseas with stateside pen pals, who send them cards, letters and I-Care packages. Visit the 'Reagan Roundup' group here on Eons. These guys and gals sacrifice a lot for us and are so appreciative of a few kind words and maybe some homemade goodies to share with their battle buddies!
