Dr. Krawitz grew up in Buffalo, New York. He had an early interest in science and mathematics, and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he graduated with High Distinction. Yearning to treat disease and provide help, he went on to medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he earned membership into the exclusive medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Krawitz then studied Internal Medicine at the renowned Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital and then Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai Hospital, both in New York City. He was awarded the Chief Resident of Ophthalmology in that latter program, and studied an additional year as a fellow in the specialty of glaucoma. Dr. Krawitz has one of the largest and most successful private practices in the country, where he specializes in the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma and comprehensive ophthalmology. In 2001, he spearheaded the creation of Vitamin Science Inc, a nutritional supplement company whose mission was to formulate eye vitamins of superb quality and ease of use, and which were based on the best research in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. VisiVite Macular Degeneration supplements have since become one of the most recognized brand names in eye vitamins, preferred by physicians, and mentioned publications, such as The Medical Letter and used by some of the largest medical facilities in the country, including the VA Hospital System.
