Places I've been

Traveled Central Europe [Thanks to U.S. Army]; Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy. Settled in Plainfield, Illinois in my early 20's. Purchased a new home there, married and started a family. I have a girl and a boy. After 27 years in Plainfield, I relocated to Deer River, Minnesota. I also had family here, so I knew the area. In Illinois, I did both French & Indian and Revolutionary War reenacting. Somewhere along the line, I switched to medieval reencating. I didn't do Ren-Faire's, just SCA groups. Here in Minnesota, we organised our own small SCA group. I gave it a Lithuanian name; Shire of Vilku Urvas [wolf's Lair]. It made sense as we had all these wolves around here. One can view our group at www.vilkuurvas.org In our group I'm the Chirurgeon [medic] and Archery Marshal. We [I] do an enormous amount of research on many subjects. On March 1st 2008 I suffered a heart attack due to a blood clot[little buggers]and had a helicopter ride that I don't remember. The clot was sucked out,a stent put in, and am getting much better. My 13 yr. old son called 911 and and was constantly on the phone in the ER with my wife, who was coming from a meeting 160 miles away.The helicopter crew gave him a T-shirt for his efforts. {This is a work in progress}

Hi Everyone,

If you like my site in progress, Email me. I'll answer. I do some interesting things. One of them is my SCA; medieval re-enacting. Here is the link to the site of a gathering on my property last month [August 15-17, 2008].  www.vilkuurvas.org/byomvi.htm   This has become an annual event. I have 40 acres up here in the North Woods with a pond and lots of trails, which I made all of them myself.

You will notice many pictures of Trakai Castle on Lake Galve in Lithuania, my ancestral land. There are a couple distant cousins still residing in that town.

You'll have to forgive me a bit as I'm still learning how to make a web site of any kind.

 

Activities

Medieval re-enacting [not Ren-Faire's], and all the research that goes with it. "Playing in my forest. I have 40 acres here with a creek and also a pond. For the past 11 years, am turning this place into a 'park'. Trails all over this place. And all hidden from view.

Favorite Charities

Salvation Army. I've worked disasters for my local EMS, and this organization was right in the thick of it along with us.
