Places I've been

I haven't been to many places - to the vet, to PetSmart, and to visit my Granny. Originally I was found in a boathouse in Ecorse, Michigan after a tornado - I was just a baby and so scared.

More about me

I am almost two years old and was a rescue kitty. I was found in a boat house the day after a tornado in my area, and was so little, I fit in the palm of a nice little girl's hand - she is the one who found me. But her mamma wouldn't let her keep me, so she took me to a rescue group, and they cleaned me up and named me Natalie. They thought I was a girl, since I was so cute. But when they took me to the vet - they said - Nope - this is a boy - so then they named me Nate. It turns out my Aunt Fluffee saw me and thought I would be a perfect kitty for my mamma - because I loved being cuddled and purred so loud! My mamma had to put her dog down a few years before this, and said she just couldn't get another pet - she never wanted to go through that pain again of losing a pet. But my Aunt Fluffee knew better, and brought me to her for her birthday. She cried when she saw me - she thought I was perfect. But she didn't like the name Nate, so she wanted to rename me. She wanted something on the nautical side and thought about Popeye or Sinbad, but Aunt Fluffee really didn't care for those names. But Aunt Fluffee's favorite poem is Hiawatha. And in the poem it talks about the shores of Gitche Gumee - so therefore my mom thought the name Gitche would be perfect - so here I am!

I love to listen to Nora playing the piano - she's the piano playing kitty. I think I'm in love!

Activities

My favorite things to do are to have Little Rickie (my cousin - Aunt Fluffe's boy) come over and play. I also like to get up on the highest things I can find - and if there is something on that shelf, table, or whatever - I love to throw it on the floor. I just learned how to fly. I can take a leap off of my kitty condo - fly through the air - and land on the table - when I do I slide across the table, everything on the table goes on the floor! What fun!
