Places I've been

I was born in England but moved to the states in 1972. I was raised in Traverse City MI. I met and married my first husband when i was 18 and he was a United States Marine. We lived for the most part in N.C. stationed at NewRiver Airstation In Jacksonville. We did three years recruiting in Petoskey Mi and then 6mths in Memphis before heading back to N.C. I have traveled through 28 states, my favorite place to come back to has always been Michigan. Especially the U.P. I also love Canada and try to get up there at least once a year. I am now married to Robert and we are living in Traverse City Michigan where i hope to stay for a while.We were living in Holland MI and then Zeeland MI but decided we really wanted to get as far away from Holland as we could and as i was raised in TC and hubby has been to visit many times with me we just knew it would be a great place to raise our family!

More about me

Im 42, and im married to a wonderful guy named Robert. We have 6 children between us...not all living with us. We have a little girl Reina who was born 3 years ago and is the highlight of our lives. I was born in England and have been living in the U.S. since 1972. I have 2 brothers both served in the U.S. Marines. Both are younger than me. One is married the other is NOT which is something i would love to change! I have four daughters, 3 from a previous marriage. One is in college, one in highschool, one graduated from highschool and is now a mom herself! And then one is 3 yrs old. Yes it was a shock to me too! My hubby has 2 daughters both living with us one is 7 and has a brain injury the other is 13. 

 We have five cats... Sam, Tobie, Friskie, Babycat and our new little bundle of joy, Jasper who is a baby we adopted who needed a home.

I am a homebody by nature preferring to stay at home and read a good book or watch a great movie. I love sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee listening to the birds singing and watching them at the feeders. It is easy for me to be a loner and have to force myself to be in society. My husband is more outgoing that I am and he gets me out of the house and doing stuff. I do like to be outdoors in the warmer weather and love to go hiking or just for long drives into the countryside with the kids in the back seat pointing out all the cows,horses and other animals we see along the way. We stop at antique shops or garage sales or quaint little towns along the way and just putzy around. We have a favorite place near the Sleeping Bear Dunes that has a hiking trail through the forest which comes around in a circle. Its about 1.5 miles around and so is a good hike for the kids. They love it!

We recently moved back to my hometown and so have alot of my family around us now which is really nice. There are so many things to do in our area and we are never bored unless we want to be!

Activities

Well when i have time for myself i enjoy reading, working out, hiking or long walks in the summer. I love antiquing or going to garage sales. I collect cats and giraffes.

Favorite Music

The Rolling Stones were my first favorite and always will be the best! But i mostly these days listen to classical music, opera and musicals. I love Sarah Brightman and Allesandro Safina. my favorite opera singer was Luciano Pavarotti and i cried when i heard he had passed away. I also like Bette Midler, Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand. I love Queen, Bee Gees and Aerosmith. When i was in my teens i was really into punkrock, listening to really weird groups like Generation X (Billy Idols first group) and The plasmatics. I liked the Sex Pistols and Iggy Pop and Lords Of The New Church. A few years ago i discovered a group My Chemical Romance that reminded me of those days, my brother bought me their cd and I love it! So quite eclectic in tastes but prefer the classics now.

Favorite TV Shows

well..... Sex and the City, American Idol, Ghost Hunters, Everybody Loves Raymond, Biggest Loser, I Love Lucy, Desperate Housewives. The Mentalist, Ghost Whisperer, General Hospital, The Unit and Flashpoint.

Favorite Movies

Elizabeth, Dangerous Liasons, Out of Africa, Phantom of the Opera, the Ann of Green Gables series, Three Came Home, Pride And Predjudice and many others

Favorite Books

Too many to name... i loved the Fatal Crown about Matilda of England and so many others. I tend to choose historical fiction or gothics. I love Victoria Holt and Phyllis A Whitney. I also enjoy a good thriller such as what Dean Koontz puts out plus i like Mary Higgins Clark. But there are sooo many more and i keep all my books.
