I'm proud to say that I've touched the earth in all 48 states. I've lived in New York City, London, and Crow Creek, South Dakota, among others and have visited France, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, Germany. After all that, I've discovered that Seattle (where it all began) is the center of the universe, after all.

Hello. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! Wow...30 seconds? Well...I share a small apartment with my dog and have returned to Seattle after over a decade away, only to find my old friends have all scattered, leaving me to feel a little like Ripette Van Winkle. (The layout looks the same, but where are the people?) Most of my hippy values are still delightfully in tact.
I own very little, (nothing, really) and am still trying to find my way. I want to be a succulent wild old woman, and never intend to grow up to be stuffy or "dignified". As Tom Robbins said, when they tell you to grow up, what they really mean is to stop growing, climb into your box and stay there where you won't cause any trouble. I color outside the lines.
I see beauty in age, and find that the most beautiful and wrinkled things--ancient winding rivers, craggy mountains, old-growth trees,--are the oldest. I don't believe that youth is the sole holder of wild exubarence, vitality and playfulness. I rage against age discrimination, stereotypes and exploitation by cosmetic and pharmaceutical corporations.
Well, that's me in this thirty seconds. Whew! But like water flowing through the banks of a river, that thirty seconds of me will not be the same thirty seconds of me thirty seconds from now. :~)
PS I'm adding this update (July, 2008) to say that I've been laid of off my corporate cubicle job. I sure never thought I'd be looking for work at 56!

Blues, folk-rock, rock, baroque classical, jazz...all live music. Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan (of course), Ani DiFranco. I love street music--buskers--most of all, and am grateful to them for providing unexpected soundtracks to our daily lives...sharing their talents and asking little in return. There is some amazing, dedicated talent on the streets. There was a busker here, recently passed away, who left his high-level corporate advertising job over twenty years ago to do what he loved most--busk at the Pike Place Market. His wife and he raised two beautiful children along the way. Through it all, he was an activist for peace and social justice and wrote strong and beautiful songs to support those causes.
