Places I've been

Was born on a hard scrabble cotton farm in the poorest section of Northeast Texas. Spent most of my childhood in Forney, Texas, a gruesome little suburb of Dallas. Spent several years living and working in Dallas after high school. Attended college in Dallas. Got tired of the rat race in the big city in 1976, after it became obvious to me that the city was trying to kill me. Bought a little piece of wilderness at Canyon Lake and built a house there. This area has since become very populated but at least my little piece of wilderness is still the same as it was hundreds of years ago. Somewhere back in the mid '60's I was drafted into the military, but being the obstinate bastard that I am, the army fired me after a few months. That suited me just fine. In 1990, I married a girl from Indonesia that I had met through a snail mail pen pal club.

I am a retired commercial artist.  Being retired, I work very hard at doing as little as possible. 

My hobbies include shooting holes in  paper targets down at the rifle range..Collecting antique guns and antique cameras...Photography...Net surfing...looking for any cheap thrill I can find.

I have been happily married for three years...and...three out of eighteen isn't too bad, is it?  I try to not let my marital status interfere too much with enjoying life, though.

Not much else to tell.  I lead a very peaceful and unexciting life and that's the way I like it.

I'm sure that I would be described as the typical "grumpy old man."  I'm not really hard to get along with at all...it's just that I don't have a lot of time to waste on scatterbrained twits.  I don't much care how good looking or how intelligent my friends are....just as long as they are honest and real.
