LOVE: Yosemite - 1966 (final year of the firefall), 1974 (Honeymoon), several times w/family, 2007 w/Girl Scout troop. Black Hills of South Dakota - repeat visits. Thousand Pines Baptist Camp, Crestline, CA - family camp since 1959, summer and winter camp as a youth, married & 3 sons dedicated in Prayer Chapel, youngest son baptisted in the pool, still attend family camp every year.

More about me

I live in the Southern California desert, about 35 miles south of Palm Springs, on 40 acres of weeds.  Our family loves the wildlife - owls, hawks, roadrunners, migratory birds, foxes, coyotes, rabbits . . . I am very happily married; and have 3 wonderful adult sons, a foster daughter who has two children of her own - and a few dozen Girl Scouts.  Christ is at the center of my life.  I am a survivor of severe childhood abuse.  I count the fact that I can laugh and love and play as victory.  Since our family business was destroyed by an arson fire in January of 2004 my husband and I have been pretty much full time volunteers.  We work mostly with our two Girl Scout troops and our local school district.  We believe God sends us hurting girls to help, and our Cadette/Senior troop jokes that you have to have a problem to belong.  I am a football addict, and an avid Chargers fan.

Activities

Girl Scouts: two troops (leader for 34 years, day camp director, council event director, delegate, etc.; Pro football addict; San Diego Chargers die hard fan: season ticket holder, hanging out at training camp , meeting the team after away games, etc; high school football: sell tickets for home freshman games (35th year), attend home and away games; church, community boards and committees; interaction with local youth; bird watching; travel when we can afford it, singing and singing and singing; crafting; avid reader; writing (mostly poetry); video/computer games

Favorite Music

Classic rock/pop. I like most music, but hate opera and heavy metal. A little rap goes a long ways, and I'm not too big on anything in a minor key. Probably my very favorite music is a group of Girl Scouts, singing in harmony - that would include the song, "On the Loose".

Favorite TV Shows

Monday Night Football, Sunday Football (3 games worth), Thursday night Football anything on the NFL Channel when I'm can watch it . . . Heros, Medium, Castle, Dancing With the Stars, ER. We don't have cable, so our choices are limited.

Favorite Movies

Harry Potter, Sister Act I & II, Star Trek IV, actually Star anything (Trek, Gate, Wars ...) old fashioned musicals

Favorite Books

Way too many to name. I can easily read a book a day. I love murder mysteries, most action/mystery/detective, psychological thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy. I eat up Dean Koontz but don't care for Stephen King.
