I grew up in Miami, FL and went to college in Rome & Carrollton, Georgia. I lived in Juneau, Alaska for 8 years, and also in San Francisco, CA for 9 years. The only place I've visited outside of the U.S. was Australia. I currently live in Humboldt County, CA.

Music is my passion. I've sung Opera, Musical Comedy, Religious, Broadway. I think my secret desire is to sing in a night club [minus all the smoking and drinking].

I love to read mysteries (favorite authors are Ridley Peterson & James Patterson). Another favorite author is J.K. Rowling. I've read all the "Harry Potter" books as well as some comentaries on them. My favorite book, however, is "The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

I'm an admitted couch potato - love TV - sit coms, Forensic Files, Cold Case Files (the real ones), as well as movies - on TV and rented. Favorite movie of all time: "To Kill a Mockingbird". 

I came out as a lesbian in 1974. Never been married and have no children. However, I adore my nieces, nephews and all of their children, and am glad when I can go home if I get tired of them. 

I attend church regularly.  I also sing with an organization called "Messiah School of the Arts". 

I have been fat all my life - and hate dieting, but keep fighting the never-ending-battle.

Semi-retirement is fun. I only work 10 hours/week, so have lots of time to do things like gardening (planted my very first vegetable garden this year), sewing, quilting, and spending time with friends at the Sr. Center.

Activities

I sing with the Messiah Choral Academy. We sing all kinds of sacred music. There are 5 choirs in Messiah School of the Arts - the MCA is for adults & high school/college youth. Ages in all 5 choirs range from 5-81. We give a Spring concert and a Christmas Concert. Prior to the Spring concert, we travel to churches in the area and sing part of our program. I also sing with a senior's group called Merry Melody Makers - we sing "easy listening" type music that people in Day Care Centers and Nursing Homes would recognize. The MMM perform twice a month.

My favorite charities are: American Heart Association; SPCA; and anything to do with AIDS research and prevention!

Favorite Music

I love, love, love classical music. That's what I listen to most often. Along with classical, my car radio buttons are also set to a religious praise and worship station as well as an oldies station. Music from musicals (Rent, Camelot, Chicago, etc.) is a genre I enjoy.

Favorite TV Shows

Ooooo - I'm really into sit-coms (mindless garbage that I don't have to think about), but I also like drama and forensic stuff: Ghost Whisperer, House, Numbers, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, According to Jim, Forensic Files, Medical Mystery. I'm not into reality shows, but I LOVE Dancing With the Stars, America's Got Talent, and So You Think You Can Dance.

Favorite Movies

Most favorite of all time To Kill a Mockingbird. Others include: Camelot, Chicago, Rent, Harry Potter (all of them), Freedom Writers, Fried Green Tomatoes, Dream Girls..

Favorite Books

Most favorite The Mists of Avalon. All of Jasmes Patterson's novels and all of Ridley Pearson's novels. I also enjoy Sue Mott Kidd.
