Moved to Bryan, Ohio when I was nine. At 11, Mom took my sister and I on a nine-day "grand tour of the West" between home and Phoenix AZ, where we spent most of the summer with her sister's family while Dad was away on business. Graduated Bryan High School in 1970, couple of years at Miami U. of Ohio, then lived in Indiana for a year, returned to Ohio for a few more, moved to Wisconsin in 1977 and been here ever since. Spent a month in central Spain in 1998 (Aranjuez, about an hour south of Madrid, would love to go back). Numerous short visits to South Texas and Mexico, time or two in CA and FL.

Know any other mid-50's white guys who drive around with Mexican pop music cranked on the car stereo? Originally started studying Spanish for work a dozen years ago, soon fell in love with its lyrical quality, the culture, and the music. Oh, and with those lovely long-haired, dark-eyed seƱoritas too.
Nature photography is my passion, although lately I've done some portraits for friends and even got paid to shoot a local band at one of their shows. Cool camera toys have a disturbing ability to suck money out of my pocket.
Working in the electronic test engineering field, I'm at my best when training and supporting customers. Considering how much time I spend in front of a computer at work, I probably shouldn't spend so much at home.
Someone who knew me well once insisted that the key to my personality was "a highly developed sense of the ridiculous." That charge has never been conclusively disproven....

"A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history with the possible exceptions of tequila and handguns." (Anonymous), "We despise all reverences and all objects of reverence which are outside the pale of our list of sacred things. And yet with strange inconsistency we are shocked when other people despise and defile the things which are holy to us." (Mark Twain), "Need means wanting someone else's money. Greed means wanting to keep your own. And 'compassion' is when a politician arranges the transfer." (Economist Joseph Sobran), "The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule." (H.L. Mencken), "Quidquid latine dictum sit altum sonatur. [Anything said in Latin sounds profound.]" (Anonymous)
